Match Thread – Spurs Eye Leeds & Will The Break Help Conte Solve Our Scoring Issues

|

New Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has an unbeaten record as we go into the November international break, but with a troublesome performance in our victory against Vitesse added to what is now four odd hours without a Premier League goal given the scoreless draw with Everton, he’s got his work cut out for him as we now move towards the Leeds United clash.

With Everton being yet another game without a single shot on target, Conte certainly won’t be helped with our international attackers off for duty – not least misfiring Harry Kane – so his chances of a quick fix over the break will be patchy at best. Everton was, however, a clean sheet, which is a start after more recent leaky performances, but any fan would be hard pushed to say it was a performance you’d have expected to see following the appointment of a ‘name’ like Conte.

For many, that will be a troublesome development of its own as we look to these players and continue wondering why they are now consistently underperforming based on how we know they can play.

It’s an important fortnight, and all we can do is cross our fingers.

Can Conte Turn Spurs Around?

Yes, With Time

No, It's Time For The Players To Take The Blame

Just been viewing the latest training video, presumably from yesterday, and Dele appeared to be a noticeable absentee. Anyone heard anything about him being injured?

Not so much hope than expectations here, back to Sundays game, I do think we’ll get a result at Leeds, I think we’re still at the make us hard to beat stage, but I do think that in Conte we do have a manager with an idea of where to take us.
If the media, are to be believed, I think Paraticis is overhauling our scouting system, for me, this is much needed as I fear we haven’t covered ourselves in glory in this area.
If rumors are to be believed, we are linked with some fairly decent players, the Conte factor could be coming into play, but it could be just the start of the usual merry go round linking us with everyone.

After a few weeks Conte must be getting his tactial and training ideas across to the players, but i expect those who were away for WC games will catch up quickly band at enfield and leeds game tomorrow.

Team… Lloris and a chance for japhet / sanchez at right backline rodon as sub for dier / davies. If shape is 343 this will allow some interesting selections for wb reggie / royle and mf. Ndemble for sure with hodj, / skippy / lo celso /dele and fwd sonny / hk10 /lucas bergw / gill. Spurs win 2-0 COYS

block….I think we will likely see a back 3 of Davies/Dier/Sanchez, Conte likes to have a settled side so expect fewest possible changes allowing for injuries. Personally I don’t get why Rodon isn’t being given many opportunities, he plays in the centre of a back 3 for Wales with Davies to his left and they have a good understanding. He always puts in solid performances for his country.

Hojbjerg appeared to be training as normal with the squad so I expect him to be available, in the absence of Skipp to partner him I think we might well see Winks preferred over Ndombele to start with the latter replacing him in the second half if we are looking comfortable.

Looks like Ole will get to spend Christmas with his family. Levy did well acting decisively to sack Nuno and appoint Conte before United did.

  • 123spurs says:

    Must win game simple as.

  • Geofspurs says:

    123 …. It’s never that simple, mate.

  • Geofspurs says:

I see Winks has been linked with Newcastle who need a creative midfielder. Really?

  • 123spurs says:

It’s very simple, let’s see if the players are willing or not. Have these players have it in them to step up 10 or 20 %. How many managers have these players gone through. And funny thing is these players have been together for years. Time to be ruthless. Time for sugar coating is over, what is the plan to be the top club in London.

  • jod says:

All these comments, yet nobody has said where the money is coming from. That pretty much sums it up, don’t address the problem just pretend you can spend imaginary money. Dealing with the real world and its problems is hard, fantasy is so much easier.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Are you reading a different thread jod?

  • block 108 spurs says:

TQ2 Take no notice of what jod says.. I’m not going to read anything posted…

Lets get back on thread… Leeds will try and win but spurs will be 3 points better at 6pm

  • PompeyYid says:

    Only one outcome today…..another 3pts for Spurs…COYS

  • TQ2Spurs says:

block…….I stopped taking any notice of jod a long time ago, you don’t need to read his posts to know what it’s going to be about.

I just read somewhere that we could be up to sixth place tonight with a win, I think we would also have to overturn a -7 goal difference as well to do so, which is a bit unlikely, so seventh is more achievable.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Jeez….we look like the away side, even their supporters are making more noise! 🙁

  • TQ2Spurs says:

We are sitting so deep, we need to be pressing them higher up the pitch.

  • Sanctimonious Idiot says:

Another half without a shot on goal and only 39% possession. WTF?

CONTE OUT! Kane, Son, Moura, the whole lot OUT!

What is the league record for minutes played without a shot on goal?

Who’s that git just fired at Man U? might as well bring him in. As a player. He’s as likely to get a shot on goal as is Harry playing in a rooster kit. As for out next manager? Might as well bring back Mason. he’s already on the payroll and he can’t do worse than Conte has been.

Second match with the club in the league and not a shot on goal. WTF? Either he sits the whole starting 11 or he goes far far away.

    Enough already.

  • Sanctimonious Idiot says:

jod for manager. He’s the man. Always reliable. we can go without shots on goal with jod at a fraction of the price.

  • Sanctimonious Idiot says:

    finally finally finally

  • Sanctimonious Idiot says:

Conte must have spoken at the half like Moses crossing the Red Sea to scare the lads into waking up. Wake the F up or ship the F out.
