Match Thread – Proper Football Returns So It’s Time For Spurs To Blow The Hammers Away

|

After another dull and boring international break as many of us ignored the serially uninspiring Gareth Southgate stick with his preferred 1-7-0-3 formation for England, the positives for Tottenham Hotspur were both rest and no further injuries that I noted.

With the Premier League return this weekend, Sunday sees us welcome the Appy Ammers to White Hart Lane and manager Jose Mourinho will be hoping to see his side build on our solid recent victories, particularly the 6-1 thumping of Manchester United.

On an injury front, there’s some hope and expectation we can get a first glimpse of the returning Gareth Bale. Giovani Lo Celso and Eric Dier should also come back into contention as well, but according to PhysioRoom.com Japhet Tanganga will again be missing.

Spurs’ own injury update in the next day or two should clear things up.

Despite West Ham having joy ahead of the break with victory over Leicester City, we need to keep our own momentum going and jumping ourselves to ten points would begin opening up that gap in the table, even if it’s still very early days in the campaign.

West Ham...

Win

Draw

Lose

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

I was quite optimistic for our ladies after the first couple of games of this season but they have reverted to being a very poor side. 3-0 down inside 15 minutes in the NLD playing hit and hope football, that is hit the ball and hope it gets somewhere near one of our own players but rarely does! 🙁

    Bale on the bench!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Lloris (C), Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Ndombele, Bergwijn, Son, Kane.

Hart Doherty Davies Winks Lucas BALE Vinicius

  • Hot Tottingham says:

    The Bale is Back!

  • Danny Winter says:

Well, that was a bright start – I missed it!

  • 123spurs says:

What does Nicolas Cage and west ham have in common, both gone in 60 seconds

  • TQ2Spurs says:

3 in the first 16 minutes early enough for you Geof? lol

  • Geofspurs says:

Yes, this is the kind of pressure I can handle.

  • 123spurs says:

Poor from jose and the players since going 3 up, poor subs made, no clean sheet in 10 games. Very sloppy laid back, could of hit them for 6.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

    Ah FFS……..I give up!

  • 123spurs says:

You could see it happening, bale coming on disrupted things, big miss but bale. Same ol spurs mentality

  • 123spurs says:

    3 goals 16 min, 3 goals in 8 min.

Jose out. If anyone wants to know why I want Jose out it’s his pathetic negative tactics. Instead of going for the kill he sits back. He has nothing to offer other than hoping for something on the counter attack. No idea how to organise a defence and he clearly has done nothing to rid us of the Spursy tag. In all honesty we weren’t even that good in the first half, we scored from our only three shorts, West Ham actually had more shots than us in the first half. Jose out now.

Welcome to the JM reality, doncasterspur.

    • Big Chiv says:

Sorry, but his subs were Moura, Bale and Winks. How on earth is that being negative? I agree conceding three goals in eight minutes is in the Spursy category, but that’s a mentality issue that has been in place for a very long time, not something that Jose has created, but that he has inherited. Lighten up OM the Jose out rubbish.

  • Geofspurs says:

    Ouch!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

It’s nothing short of a disgrace losing after being 3 up after 16 minutes, I know….it will go down in the records as a draw but for me it was most definitely a loss. It’s not as if the spammers play well enough to come back in the game, they didn’t. Is is down to arrogance or naivety on our part?

  • TQ2Spurs says:

“Not the start we wanted. But we felt like we were playing good football. For some reason they dropped off us.”

Declan Rice being interviewed after the game.

  • PompeyYid says:

To me that was arrogance and naivety on our part, came out in the 2nd with we only have to manage the game for a win, thus letting Spam come at us, thus anything can happen, which we all know did, lessons must be learnt from this.

Mind Kane hitting the post at 3-0 and Bale missing a sitter at 3-2 didn’t help matters. COYS

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Hi PY…………….but this is what happens when you try to ‘manage a game’ from a winning position, how many times have we seen this kind of thing happen before? We should have buried them.

  • Niall D says:

    Lost for words
Don’t think Jose out is the right comment.
What, an own goal and a worldie? Nothing can be done about that.
We were in control of that game.
But agree with DH we didn’t shut the game down.
We should be good enough to finish a game at 3-0 up.
We seemed to take our foot off the excelarator.
But if Bale had had a coulpe of games under his belt he would’ve scored. HK hit the post.
However as I said in an earlier post, just like Aurier, Sanchez has a mistake in him. I would argue that this is where the points were lost.
Clutching at straws really. Spursy performance from the players not the manager.

    • TK says:

“Don’t think Jose out is the right comment.”
Perhaps it’s not the right comment for you but for many of us it is.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

I thought Jose was supposed to rid us of the Spursy tag. It seems to me that we are more Spursy than ever. All down to the manager and his negativity. At least all the ridiculous talk of the title is over and everyone can accept that under this manager we are no better than a Europa League team.

    • Big Chiv says:

We can still be Spursy but that is not down to Jose, it happened regularly before his arrival. In fact, getting past Chelsea in the League cup and getting through the Europa League knockout games are both things that were more likely to not happen under several past managers. Get that you’re not a Jose fan, but have some perspective instead of spouting rubbish
