Match Thread – Palace At The Lane On A Lazy Sunday For Spurs

|

Tottenham Hotspur’s first team didn’t quite manage to reach the dizzy heights of Burnley as we limped over the line in our last clash with Fulham, but back to back victories for the first time since November certainly shouldn’t be sniffed at.

Manager Jose Mourinho has already confirmed he will again be rotating the pack ahead of the next run of fixtures the club has which again sees us on the Sunday/Thursday schedule but you’d like to hope we will persist with the front three of Sonny, Harry and Bale for obvious reasons.

Palace themselves will make the trip with boosted spirits as they are on a run of three without defeat, and this weekend they should be able to welcome back Wilfried Zaha after his five game spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

For us, the game still comes too early for Giovani Lo Celso but we may be able to welcome him back to the bench for the Europa game. Serge Aurier will likely face a late fitness test after his calf tightened up against Burnley, but otherwise we should be good to go.

Now we play the ‘which Spurs will turn up’ game…

Palace

Win

Draw

Lose

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

Wow, Liverpool lose a sixth consecutive home game! Puts our win over Fulham into a bit more perspective, they are playing some good football.

Geof……if you haven’t watched our WSL game don’t bother, stick to the highlights to save wasting more than 5 minutes of your life! :- )

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Cracking start to the Manc derby, pen to United in the first minute!

  • Niall D says:

Man U awarded a Pen, NEVER.
    TBH Havnt watched the game.
PY only kidding really, I don’t have much of an opinion on Mr Levy, as you’ll notice I always have called him Mr Levy when writing about him. I’m sort of, of the opinion that we could’ve spent a bit less on facilities in our “new stadium” and a bit more on players at that time.
Had to laugh re us supporters, I mentioned “fickle” a few posts ago, I was listening to many Liverpool supporters on Talk Sport earlier, and the Klopp must go mob.
This is the man who brought them 2 CL finals 1 which they won and a first league title in 30 years, he’s just lost a few games in a row, probably as he has many injured players at present, but many want him out. It shows as a football manager, you have absolutely no credit in the bank with some supporters.
But good result by Fulham, and does bring our result on Thursday into perspective as has been said.

If Poo fire Klopp, hire him to replace Mourinho without a moment’s hesitation. And if we get really lucky, Poo can hire Mourinho.

  • TK says:

I really dislike any Manchester derby. Both teams cannot lose. I have the same feeling about Chelskum vs. Arse. Both teams cannot lose. Such situations should not be allowed until some creative solution is found to allow two teams each to gain zero points.

  • TK says:

    winks starting. fingers crossed.

  • TK says:

no n’dombele no dele. who gets the ball up to the firepower?

  • TK says:

Doherty and Winks on the same side of the pitch. genuflection needed.

  • TK says:

I can begin the breath. thank you Kane and Bale.

  • Shroppie says:

44 min of good work undone in 1
Hope second half we is better

  • TK says:

Hate giving up a goal after the 45 minutes. feckity feck only shot we give up goes in. friggity frig.

  • Niall D says:

Why do they let Kane take free kicks. Espically with Bale on the pitch. Let’s admit it Kane is a 2 from every 10 Bale about a 7 from every 10.

  • TK says:

Good question, Niall. Gareth is the man for the free kick.

Let’s see a run of braces and hat tricks for Bale over the next run of matches. It’s already a brace today. We’re greedy, Gareth. give us more. Match the five goals in a match we got a few years back from Jermaine Defoe. Make it six, Gareth. Earn your pay for the whole year today and in the next two months. There’s still time to be the hero for the year.

  • TK says:

run up the score. run up the goal difference. we’re within spitting distance of competing for Europe. play like we have no mercy. it’s only a game! run it up. make us believe.

  • Andre says:

Watching Bale and Kane in this form…my wildest dreams coming true…my God it’s been worth the wait.!!! Thank you lads.

  • TK says:

keep pouring it on and we’ll be only a couple of points our of the top four. Crikey.

  • TK says:

Double braces. Bale and Kane. What we have waited for since Bale flew to London from Madrid. overly long wait, but perhaps the flood gates are opening?

  • TK says:

Bitter disappointment that Heung-Min and Moura didn’t score. Come on lads, get with the program. But Bale/Kane two braces, now that’s more like it. Let’s see more more more of this over the last weeks of the season. Two braces per match and we’re into the CL. I’ll take it even if it means Mourinho doesn’t get the sack. The hack in the sack. Has a Dr. Seuss ring to it, no? No images, please.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Great performance from our attackers but our defence still gives me the willys every time the opposition gets near our box. Undone yet again by a high cross and the attacker getting between our centre halves.

  • TK says:

We’re only two points out of the top four, and that looked impossible not that long ago.
