Match Thread – Over To Stamford Bridge For Round Two

|

With a late victory secured over Fulham at the weekend at Craven Cottage, Tottenham Hotspur turn their attentions back to the EFL Cup semi-final this week as we travel to Chelsea for the second leg clash.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino’s side head to Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening with a 1-0 aggregate advantage from the first tie, but even allowing for our usual rotation of the squad, if Dele Alli is ruled out on top of our current injury issues – Harry Kane’s winning penalty back at Wembley could make a massive difference to our chances of reaching the final now – as we could be light and considerably more youthful than we’d have wanted for this 90 minutes.

Chelsea have struggles of their own though and that may also play to our advantage, especially if some players develop a ‘hump’ following Maurizio Sarri’s words after their defeat to Arsenal.

All we can do is give it our best and undoubtedly Fernando Llorente will be leading the line and whilst he didn’t have a great day against Fulham, the extra 90 minutes in his tank should do him the world of good.

Time to keep everything crossed.
