Match Thread – Mourinho Will Be Planning To Boing The Baggies

|

With Tottenham Hotspur getting themselves back to winning ways in the Europa League in midweek, this weekend was all about Slaven Bilic and West Bromwich Albion.

Having finally regained their place in the Premier League after a few years in the second tier, their readjustment to the top flight hasn’t been great. Seven games in, a total of three points and a minus 10 goal difference already.

Basically, given the form Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min are in, our 27-year-old England man will be confident of further chipping away at the remaining 66 goals that legend Jimmy Greaves now holds on him.

For us, three points on Sunday would be a nice boost with us sitting in fourth place ahead of Saturday’s fixtures and if we could reach 17 points, the top of the table could be interesting depending on what happens elsewhere.

As ever though, we have to focus on ourselves – we all know we are still capable of putting in a performance that makes everyone cringe and we have to ensure that doesn’t happen.

WBA...

Win

Draw

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

    Tomorrows team?

    Hugo Lloris
    Aurier Toby Dier Reguilon
    Sissoko Hojbjerg
    Bale Ndombele Son
    Harry Kane

    Result?

    Baggies 0-5 Spursies!

  • Niall D says:

Thanks Danny for the thread. Dunno how you do it.
HT hope the result is as your prediction.
But a win, no matter how many goals, keeps us in the interesting zone it will boost confidence.
Whilst I hate to say this these are teams we should be beating but we need the concentration to avoid the banana skin which makes us “Spursy”.
West Brom are desperate for a win, and given our usual luck with Refs and VAR it’s not beyond belief for them to get an undeserved point
Hope I’m wrong, on paper we should put em to bed and tuck em in.
I’ll take HT’s score all day long.
    COYS.

    Clean sheet anyone?

  • BelgianSpur says:

A big opportunity to make a statement. Win and go top. A prime opportunity to show that we have grown as a team and can rise to the occasion, when it presents itself.

I just hope we try to partner Lo Celso and NDombele. WBA will probably park the bus so we’ll need all of the creativity we can get from midfield.

    Fingers crossed.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

WBA were comfortably beaten by a Fulham side who are, to be honest, currently just a championship standard side (no disrespect intended, especially to Scotty) so if we don’t get a result against them we might as well give up all hope of ever achieving any kind of success.

Bruno Fernandes is going to end up with a deformed spine from carrying Manu the way he does, it grieves me that we weren’t able to persuade him to join us over what is regarded as a glamour club and we need to find a way to change this. If we had him in our side now we would in my opinion be serious title contenders.

  • Geofspurs says:

Well, obviously, we’re going to win and improve our GD. Right? HT has already provided the score. Ist, 2nd, or 3rd?

  • jod says:

Just win the game, its about points at the moment not how you play. The way the league has gone so far it looks like anyone who is consistent will be in the mix for top four and maybe the title.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

I would have thought that the better you play, the more chance you have of winning so for me it is about how well we play COYS

  • PompeyYid says:

Thank you Danny for another match thread, certainly keeping you busy lol!

A win is what is required today, go top and then wait the other’s results, for us L’Pool n the Foxes to draw minimum, we are then top for 2 weeks, oh the heady heights.

Lets have a clean sheet and a 0-4 win, make a statement lads. COYS

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Lloris (C), Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Ndombele, Bale, Son, Kane

    Subs:

Hart Aurier Davies Rodon Lo Celso Lucas Vinicius

    Up the Spurs!

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

    Title contenders- what a joke

  • TQ2Spurs says:

    Jeez….what a poor first half!

  • Geofspurs says:

We need to speed it up. Take off Sissoko, drop Kane back. put Bale in the middle, and bring on Moura. Patience is the key!

  • Danny Winter says:

I’m beginning to wish I’d stayed in bed – I still wouldn’t have missed anything.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Top o the world, Harry… Top o the world… JUST!

  • wentworth says:

Minutes away from a disappointing draw and we sneak it. We won ugly by making WBA look reasonable. Always tough when you are at the bottom. Fancy paying £14.95 for this boredom. Rip off. Still we won and are top for a few hours.Jose subbed well today although with only ten mins left I thought it was too late. Thought Vinicius did well and it enabled our best midfielder,HK,to move around more. Hope Vinicius does not become a Janssen or Soldado. He needs to score. Wish Lo Celso could shoot…we need a goalscoring midfielder. Oh, we have Harry Kane. What a player.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

A win is a win but boy we have been so poor since the win at OT, 3 of the best strikers in the world up front and we have our first shot on target at 58 minutes against the bottom side who were comprehensively beaten by Fulham only 6 days ago.

  • Danny Winter says:

Very, very poor with a fantatically strong finish – even then West Brom could’ve nicked it with their one chance. Good to win ugly but can’t make a habit of it.

  • Niall D says:

Top of the league. I’ll take that. If even for a couple of hours.
We’re still in the mix, in the interesting zone. 1-0, not a classic but a good result.
As some one else said other teams seem to up their games against us.
However WBA other than the Everton game haven’t been battered this season.
They had a couple of good draws including Chelsea.
As Jod said “just win the game, that’s what we done.
    And a clean sheet.
6 goals in 7 days. OK not a classic but a win.

  • Marky says:

Is it the way we play that allows other teams to play well, but we won so its all good. Still hard to watch but maybe our performances are due to the busy schedule we have.
