Match Thread – Group G Is There For The Taking But Can Spurs Push The Battle To The Final Game

|

Tottenham Hotspur got new gaffer Antonio Conte’s reign properly up and running on Sunday afternoon as we fought back from a goal behind to take a 2-1 victory over Leeds United at White Hart Lane to pick up his first Premier League win, and on Thursday evening he’ll be looking to make it three wins from four as we are back in Europa Conference League Group G action.

Spurs make the trip to NS Mura’s home ground, and having previously slipped up and handed Renne a three point advantage at the top of the Group table, victory over Mura and maybe Vitesse doing us a favour will blow the battle wide open again with us still to face Rennes in the final game at White Hart Lane.

We can no doubt expect some rotation from Conte for this one, but he will undoubtedly go strong given we can still win the group, and of course, with momentum comes greater form and we all know how much more improvement we need to make.

Performances might not yet be perfect under our new man, but results are twisting back in our favour and long may that continue with the festive fixture crush soon to be on the horizon.

Yes it would amazing if all the players u just mentioned Wentworth could be cleared out. Davies is playing a little better and maybe keep him in squad for depth. But the more wholesale changes the better at this point. We need more speed and determination from the players. So many times regardless of who we’re matched up with it seems we are second to ball.

    My goodness
Negative ( rightly so ) comments from everyone .
The playing side of the club is a shambles and unfortunately this situation has been allowed to develop and the side has been allowed to slide into the type of displays we witnessed this evening .
It is all very well Levy playing transfer hard ball but when is he going to learn and understand that whoever is the manager that person will be unable to rectify the mismanagement of the football side of the club without selling players for a realistic / sensible price and replacing with better .
Buying cheap and loanees are not the answer . Why would clubs wish to loan a good player if he brings something to their team ? Why not keep him ? If as Levy states he / the board have ambitions for the club then start buying some decent players .

Horrible result, and yet another reminder that the squad lacks quality/depth in many areas.

The silver lining is that exiting this competition may be a blessing in disguise, once we get over the embarrassment of doing so.

Am now coming round to the idea of letting this comp go . I have been a staunch supporter of the idea of competing in this comp as I felt that we could win it .
I had thought and expected that our 2nd string side could have at least qualified for the knock out rounds but on the evidence vs Vitesse and Mura my optimism has dropped .
Perhaps now concentrate , using the main squad only , on the domestic cups and attempting to finish high in the league .
In the meanwhile attempt to get rid of some of the dross and buy quality players .

The stunning silence on this forum shows the extraordinary response to our ghastly display in the Europa Pub Cup.
What on earth was going on with our group of yesterday’s men. Conte must be pulling his hair out. No, no don’t do that, it has cost a fortune already..
Now is the time for Levy to realise at long last he should have nothing to do with transfers in or out. This miserly geezer has provided us with the hapless Doherty, the wimpish always injured , one legged Lo Celso, the bored and disinterested N’Dombele, the hopeless, one hit wonder Bergwijn. Not to mention Moanino and poor old Nuno…
We must be bold and get rid of at least 8 of our so called squad. We have 2 players that top teams covet..Son and Kane. The rest could be gone and forgotten unless Romero and Emerson Royal come good to complement Hojbjerg. We are in dire straits.
The football is utterly boring and pedestrian.
We were beaten by one of the weakest teams in the comp without a whimper.
Wake up Levy. Nice house, rubbish furniture.
    Let Conte reign.
