Match Thread – Can Spurs Ranieri Watford & Get Back To Winning Ways

|

With Tottenham Hotspur’s clash against Southampton on Tuesday afternoon ultimately ending in disappointment as we only took a point despite our better control of the game, it’s all eyes to this Saturday’s game away to Watford.

As I type, our visit to Vicarage Road will continue to go ahead as planned despite other matches continuing to fall foul of Coronavirus outbreaks at clubs, but again, until the tests come back on Saturday morning, who manager Antonio Conte has available to select is pretty much an unknown.

We already know Giovani Lo Celso, Steven Bergwijn, Ryan Sessegnon and Cristian Romero will again be missing with their injuries, but we’ll have to wait until the official injury update to find out if anyone has joined them since the weekend.

As for Watford, they apparently have nine out themselves, so it means no reunion with former player Danny Rose who is now on their books.

Form, table position and almost everything else you can think of should suggest a solid three points for us here, but life is rarely that simple.

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

Arsenal lost three points is a truly hearbreaking manner—heartbreaking if you;re a Gooner.

Let’s see our Spurs pick up those three points today.

    COYS.

Nice! That game ended well. lol

  • TK says:

Gil Salvatierra? Who knew? Tell me it’s you, Bryan. lol.

If this lad works hard, he’ll be a keeper. And I don’t mean a goal keeper. Keep this one.

  • TK says:

With a name like that, he should know that football is about controlling spaces. Salva Tierra. Save the earth.

Either he understands to spaces on the pitch or he’s a follower of Greta Thunberg.

I’d like to see him come onto the pitch in the closing part of the a match.

If we want to get into the top four this season, Kane really needs to wake up his boots. Let’s see a deuce today, one from each boot.

  • TK says:

Kane’s miss on 31 minutes was really distressing. Come on, Harry. Don’t shoot like Sissoko.

  • TK says:

It’s hard to say what was the worst thing about the first half. Perhaps the missed calls by the referee? The aimless passes into the box?

Conte should go all-out madman in the tea room during the interval.

45 minutes of total domination and only one clear opportunity which H missed. Surely we don’t need Hoj and Skippy for this, neither can fashion a shot on goal. If only ND was interested or Deli more reliable. We are crying out for a goal scoring creator with a goal threat. Coutinho?

  • 123spurs says:

Winks for skipp, seriously conte. Made me laugh at least.

  • 123spurs says:

A team which is shipping 2 goals per game, but then again we are struggling to score.

  • 123spurs says:

Woeful in the final 3rd again, clueless.
    Same under jose
    Same under nuno
    Same under conte
    Same under ?

  • 123spurs says:

Since conte says winks was staying, I have absolutely no fate that he will be successful.

  • 123spurs says:

Get out of jail card used.

A hard earned three points, but not a well earned win. I found large stretches of today’s match a real torture to watch. at about 65 minutes I found the words “Conte Out” creeping into my mind. This team has a long way to go to become a real Spurs team. We really do need a bit of January new blood.

I’ll take it, but not with much happiness at having watched this one.

    This was a drudgery match.

    • Love totty says:

It might only take one player to transform this team. Someone to have a similar effect that Bruno Fernandez had at MU.

  • wentworth says:

Hmm. That was pretty grim and very cruel.
20 minutes to go and we are crying out for a creative super sub AND we bring on Winks to run the clock down! Unbelievable.
10 minutes to go and we bring on fresh leg (!) Lo Celso to fall over.
We so need a decent attacking midfielder who can pass the ball and someone who can cross the ball.
That was too embarrassing for words.
So much to do in the transfer window. Has Levy found his piggy bank or will we be thrutching around at the 11th hour to pick up the leftovers?

  • Geofspurs says:

All’s well that ends well. Chill.

  • jod says:

And once again it wasn’t pretty so it didn’t count, except of course it did. Even the draw against Southampton counted. We are only two points behind Arsenal who are in fourth with two games in hand. Conte was clear before the game, the important thing was the three points. But clearly not on this site. If Conte does get us a champions league spot without any pretty football we should presumably turn it down and let someone more worthy, but with less points, have it instead.
