Match Thread – Can Spurs Go Out With A Bang & A CL Spot

It’s been a season of ups and downs for Tottenham Hotspur and having seemingly blown a great chance to secure a top four spot the other month, the stars have aligned perfectly for Antonio Conte and we again hold a two point advantage over Arsenal in the race for fourth place.

With Spurs ending the campaign strongly with three wins and two draws in our last five, our north London neighbours handed us the advantage on Monday evening as they fell to a very poor 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers and as had long been speculated, our recent meeting has been absolutely key to the final lay of the top flight table.

It’s now all eyes to Sunday afternoon and the final day of action for the 2021/22 campaign and with Mikel Arteta’s side face Everton, we have the much easier task of a trip to Carrow Road to face Dean Smith’s already relegated Norwich City side.

Injury wise, the only player to potentially welcome back is Cristian Romero following the hip issue he sustained in the Liverpool clash, but you wouldn’t expect anyone else to return now.

Over to the players to finish a largely mixed campaign on a massive high.

German striker Jurgen Klinsmann spent two years at White Hart Lane in separate spells, but how many league goals did he contribute?

Tomorrow’s game has the potential for a spursy and a banana skin outcome for us. But I hope conte has got our players mentally positive yet not complacent as this is where the squad has gone spursy.(arrogance ?).. As conte will be on the touchline shouting instructions at them, and he avoids a yellow or red card !! I hope the 3-0 win or a 1-0 win or even a draw will do.

I’m getting a bit nervy now the more I think about it… COYS

    It’s the norwich shirt colour… banana yellow..doesn’t help…. lol

If we fail to get top4 now and arsenal clinch, imagine the humiliation. Against a team rock bottom.

  • 123spurs says:

You couldn’t ask for a better last game if you had to pick a team.

Not sure with all the furore of finishing 4th (maybe), if any one has mentioned
How well has Sonny done to get in contention for the GB, well done, considering he isn’t a pen taker.

  • block 108 spurs says:

Yes I think sonny has been the better striker / fwd in PL this season, and no penalties inc. IMO he should have the GB anyway. But its too late this season. Perhaps the PL admin and clubs can adjust the criteria to goals scored in open play..a this fairly treat all players? If two players score same totals…then away goals to make the difference in who wins.

As to penalty takers… a new category award for this would be good.. a silver boot award. as it does take considerable nerves and skill to score.

    Any opinions on this?

  • Allan says:

If we are awarded a penalty Son ought to take it .

  • 123spurs says:

No Allen not unless we are 3 up, imagine prioritising a GB over UCL.

  • Allan says:

Take your point 123 and tend to agree however my heart rules my head !!
I think the GB would have come up during training and would Son have been doing extra penalty practise as Kane is on record as saying he will help Son out to achieve the GB ?

  • 123spurs says:

Agree penos should not be included

  • Andre says:

So nervous now, hopefully the lads aren’t, go and do the business chaps…please!!! COYS!!!
