Match Thread – Can Spurs Burnley Arsenal To Fourth Place

|

With Tottenham Hotspur securing a great draw against Liverpool and then backing that up with a fantastic 3-0 victory over north London rivals Arsenal, we now end the campaign with Burnley and Norwich City.

In what has been a choppy season in terms of disappointments and at points a failure for the players to turn up as you’d expect them to given their quality – we are still on the cusp of earning a top four finish and really ending the 2021/22 campaign on a high and few would’ve thought that possible a few months ago.

So it’s Sean Dyche-less Burnley next and everyone on the planet knows we have the fire power to not only win, but also significantly improve our goal difference when attentions turn to the single point battle we are now in with Arsenal when it comes to the top four chase and on paper Mikel Arteta’s side do have a slightly more difficult run in – even if it’s only a sports washing Newcastle United and badly mismanaged Everton.

What will be will be.

Burnley

Win

Draw

Well decent result at the end, and points wise as good as beating them 5-0.
Yep could be said we were tired after Thursday
But I thight we dominated the 1st half, I still feel Burnley are a team of spoilers and indeed tried for a draw, it wasn’t even a “smash and grab” I think they had that Barnes effort and nothing else.
To our credit, we had many attempts on goal, and it showed when Pope got MOM.
Yes the pen was fortunate, but Leicester and Man U have thrived on such decisions for the past 5 seasons and more, so I’ll take one or two, god knows we’ve had enough given against us..
For the nay sayers, I do feel that for both teams this was a high pressure game which probably meant that it was, a tetchy scrappy affair, but then most Burnley games are.
As B108 says why all the negative comments, we’re currently unexpectedly in 4th, would we have taken that last August??
You bet. So I for one am pretty positive about that.
We’re back in Poch territory, position and points wise.
For those who say some teams have nothing to play for I notice Norwich drew with Wolves, surely they have nothing to play for. Why would Leicester put 5 past Watford, and what good would it do West Ham drawing against Man C?
As the best they could get would be 6th?.
You know the shitty Europa qualifying position.
Maybe it’s me, but I’m pretty chuffed that we’re 4th, Arse have it all to do and two fairly difficult games to do it.
    COYS.

It’s definitely a better position than we could have hoped for mid season, but Arsenal are still favourite in my book. They are certainly capable of coming away with all 3 points tomorrow. If they do, I doubt they will slip up at home to Everton who will be safe and knackered having played on theThursday. So yes, a couple of worldies from Trippier will do very nicely tomorrow night.
