Match Thread – All Change For Spurs, It’s Fulham, Not Villa Next

|

With a comfortable and professional Tottenham Hotspur showing dispatching Marine in our FA Cup tie at the weekend, our Premier League match with Aston Villa has been officially postponed following their Covid outbreak, so on Wednesday evening, we will now welcome Fulham To White Hart Lane.

As fans will know, the Fulham clash (originally scheduled for December 30) had itself been postponed following their own outbreak of Covid, but I think most would accept this is a sensible reshuffle at this stage as I don’t believe Villa are even back in training yet as their positive players continue to self isolate.

Fulham should be reasonably well rested after their own break but they will have sharpness issues and some players may well be leggy after their Cup clash with QPR required Extra Time, so what we can expect from them in what will only be their second game of 2021 is anyone’s guess.

As for us, Gareth Bale has minutes under his belt once again after Marine but I wouldn’t expect to see Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg back just yet after his nasty shin collision. Giovani Lo Celso remains out.

We should be confident of all three points here as we look to keep the pressure on at the top of the table.

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

    Yep, TQ
I don’t disagree with your argument either.
But there could be a case for both sides of the argument.
As I said older people are more likely to follow rules.
I don’t have all the answers, as I’m sure none of us do.
It’s all just opinions and” calls “usually on Football.
I dream of the days it will be back to just that.
I’m scundered (pissed off) so I am.

  • Allan says:

I think unless looking at the latest press reports , the clubs get their players to observe the hugging issues, then football will be stopped .

  • Hot Tottingham says:

So guys, is a young policeman or teacher or shop worker etc., Or even pro footballer, not at a higher risk to Covid than a retired older person living in relative isolation?

My suggestion is not what I would expect to see. Just that I feel it’s just too easy to see it in such simple black and white terms… But it’s far more complex than this.

TQ, I don’t know what Geof means which is why I asked.
Allan, just being sarcastic doesn’t really help with this debate…… I’m being quite serious here.

But, I’m just theorising… We all know that what I have put forward, isn’t happening and nor will it…

Anyway, I just wish all of you well. whatever our thoughts on this. And that’s my bottom line. Take care of yourselves and each other. It’s all we can do..

    AND…

    Up the Spurs!

Spurs 5-1 Fulham! But 1-0 might have to do… 😉

I won’t be the guinea pig for this vaccine, I’d hate to be a 20th year old who gets the vaccine, how it will affect them down the years.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

It’s a good match. Fulham are playing well but so are Spurs.

Great goal from Reg n Harry..

More goals to come I think…

Get Dele on Jose. For Sissoko… Or Vinnie!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

And no lovemaking when Harry banged it in!

    I confess though… I did hug myself… a little too much!

  • 123spurs says:

I had a feeling this was going to happen

  • Hot Tottingham says:

    The best team drew!

    By that, I mean Fulham.

Not that we were poor. But they were better…

    F******K!

  • Pauric says:

Anti football team is what mourinho’s building at this club. Thank god I give up my sky subscription.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

You’re right HT, Fulham played the better football. Same old same old missed opportunity. Jose waited too long before bringing on some fresh legs and we needed someone with more creativity. Sissoko is so frustrating, does he actually have an end product to go with his dribbling skills?

  • Tom says:

Winks, hojberg and sissoko all start ..to defend against fullham??? Fckin coward

  • wentworth says:

Oh dear. Another shambles. Allowing Fulham to boss the second half with an inevitable equaliser. Poor, defensive team selection with 3 defensive midfielders. Lamela not match fit ….why not Bale or Dele? We made Fulham look like top 6 contenders in second half. Dreadful result and performance yet again.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

I take that back…… In the 2nd half we were poor. We gave it up to them.

I’m thinking is that Jose’s negative sit-on-a-lead tactics yet again or, are our players just not good enough…

Stupid question really… Of course our players are good enough… To beat Fulham from a 1-0 half time lead that is. We should’ve put them on the back foot from start to finish, and destroyed them!

Even so, credit to Scott Parker!

  • Marky says:

Pretty much same ole same ole, disappointed but not surprised.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Good job we are all used to disappointment. 🙁

  • Hot Tottingham says:

    Good night all.

Just to say, I’m not arguing with any of you on this Covid-shit world we find ourselves in.

I’m just confused and looking for answers that no one seems to have, to be sure……. Least of all me…

We fight this and we survive. We will suffer along the way and people will continue die… But there will be an end to it.

Stay strong, stay safe all. Stay well………

    And,

    Up the Spurs!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

    Just one more thing…

I like Sissoko for all his efforts and hard work. But can some one tell me why o why is he played in our attack today and not say, Dele? Who doesn’t even leave the bench when our one creative guy is taken off?!

    Jose?

  • Arky says:

And yet another headed goal 🙁

  • Pauric says:

Congratulations to Poch lifting his first trophy as a manager and I’m sure more will follow.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I’ve never been a fan of Mourinho but I am coming to the conclusion that it is in fact our players that are the problem, it appears that too many of them have no stomach for a fight. No matter what the manager tells them it is down to the 11 players on the field to do what it takes to win matches and with just 1 win in our last 6 PL games they clearly aren’t capable of sustaining any kind of challenge.
