Tottenham Hotspur put Premier League woes on the backburner again this midweek, and although we have a significant advantage over RZ Pellets WAC in our Europa League Round of 32 double header, the question on everyone’s lips is will we turn up and put in a performance that shows a reaction to our current woeful run of form.
For some, Wednesday’s early evening clash at White Hart Lane is about far more than simply the result and fans will be looking at manager Jose Mourinho to ‘fix’ the problems he claims he ‘cannot resolve’ as our first team haven’t suddenly become that bad overnight, even if the form guide shows five defeats in our last six league games.
Whilst performances were hardly perfect, the wheels on the early season optimism bus have well and truly fallen off and more and more fans will soon start looking behind us, as opposed to up the table, particularly if we don’t pick up some points sharpish.
Holding a 4-1 advantage from the first leg, our route to the next round shouldn’t be in question, but the reaction of the players and the performance they put in, could be very telling in terms of how the rest of the campaign will now go.
Hi DH… I left out the bit that you had already posted about yourself. About the poor man-management and poor coaching……. It’s all just really poor.
Also, as you mentioned, his words to the media after WHU (and other games too)……. He’s talking the words of a defeatist and a fool!
Sorry H T my reply was to an earlier post and not your last one.
Agreed we should be playing much better than we currently are, just a bit more intensity would do, not looking for an “Everton game” every time but a move away from the pedestrian would be preferable.
Anyhoo rest a few players for tonight’s game, give a few youngsters a run out, however if morale is low this could be a springboard for the likes of Dele, Vinny et Al to get a few minutes and a goal or two.
Silly silly school boy errors has cost us big time, even h/berg has cost us lately.
Hi 123… I think Hoj is bloody knackered.
123s….YES! school boy errors is everywhere on the park and in every player, defender makes an error, costs a goal, boo, crap, sell im etc, striker misses a sitta, aw never mind try again, both have cost us maybe 1, 2 or 3pts whatever the situation. COYS
Hi Niall…
Regardless of all the words I’ve written today. I think we’ll see a good and convincing performance tonight. But I do also think that the Wolfsberger’s might give it a good go themselves. At least they should do, not really having anything to lose other than a bit o’ pride.
I’m actually still hopeful that we can turn it around in the PL too…
All we can all really do, is hope and wait and see……
Up the Spurs!
Lets have a good convincing win today lads, then starting with Burnley lets show the rest of the Prem we still ave it. COYS
We’ll need to save our best defensive headers for the Burnley game….whoever they are….if we have any! :- )
Don’t worry lads, no manager in the world would set out to be defensive in this situation, a home tie with a 4-1 lead from the away leg, would they?
Hart, Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies (C), Sissoko, Winks, Lamela, Dele, Bergwijn, Vinicius.
Subs:
Lloris Tanganga Reguillon Lavinier Markanday John Ndombele Bale Lucas Kane Son Scarlett
Who the hell are Son Kane And Bale?!
AHot T Accept your argument however some of them were not sufficiently experienced or had the necessary experiemce we needed to be up grade on what we had . They were apart from Ndombele cheap options when more experienced players accustomed to Prem football was required . You haven’t address the CB situation which was a cheap option but not what we required .
No Sanchez or Rodon on the bench?!?!
I just think that at present (tonight aside) we are on a cusp, whether it’s all the stuff mentioned, players, managers, owners, COVID, finances, I feel there will be a lot of movement out of our team over the summer, maybe not all of it for the better how and where we finish in the league will be pivotal in who stays who goes and whom we can get in both as a coach and as players.
Except for Dele, a really grim lineup. Just shows how weak we are and how short of young, rising talent. Let’s hope all the young subs get a chance in the second half with nothing to lose. We need something for the future to add to Sessegnon and Skipp (who scored for Norwich last night and is playing superbly).
Lovely little goal from Alli.
Talking of Dele……. Nice one son!
Oooo WAC a dooo what a goal!
Yep. Dele is the man. Who else could score a goal like that other than Bale? Doherty and Vinicius very poor so far. Bergwijn looking sharper. Hope Lamela doesn’t get his usual booking with silly slide tackles by the corner flag. Even Winks moving forward.
Sissoko the poorest for me so far, very sloppy play at times.
I’m expecting us to score a few more when they tire as they did in the second half of the first leg.
Please give the young subs more than 45 seconds. Scarlett should be on instead of the labouring Vinicius. Give them a go Mourinho….be positive,be brave, be adventurous.
