Martin Jol is ‘more than pleased’ that his Spurs side bounced back from Saturdays 2-0 defeat against Bolton.

Spurs kicked off their home campaign in style beating Sheffield United 2-0 and have hopefully brushed off the cobwebs and can now get down to the real business of fighting for every point.

Goals from new boy Dimitar Berbatov and much maligned Jermaine Jenas set Spurs up for three points and a few happier fans.

Jol told the official site: ‘I am more than pleased because it was a good performance. We didn’t do well against Bolton and everybody wanted to do better. That is what we did. We wanted to put Bolton right and from the first whistle we looked for a high tempo and to put them under pressure. We knew they would play five at the back but we had enough space in midfield with two quality players – JJ and Edgar Davids – to keep them under pressure.’

‘Robbie Keane knew exactly how to play with Berbatov with their three at the back and it was very pleasing for us that the lads did what we wanted and gave the crowd a performance. The final score doesn’t reflect the game because we could have had three or four. That is the only thing we have to work on, to score more goals.’
