Tottenham Hotspur welcome Manchester United and part-time gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Wembley Stadium this Sunday as the Premier League returns after our successful Cup distractions.

Having comfortably come past Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup third round tie with a 7-0 scoreline, we took a narrow 1-0 advantage over Chelsea in the first leg of the League Cup on Tuesday evening but the focus now is another three points as we look to keep the pressure on at the top of the table in 2018/19.

Having slipped back in the Premier League into third spot, there is only a two point gap to Manchester City and a six point gap to Liverpool in top spot, so it’s still all to play for and a memorable victory over the Red Devil’s would keep confidence in the group flowing.

With Lucas Moura being ruled out of Chelsea with the knee issue he picked up in the FA Cup, whether he returns to contention in time for this one remains to be seen, but list him as three days away, along with Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele, so options for manager Mauricio Pochettino should soon improve from an injury front.

We’ll have to see what the remainder of the week brings.

  • You must be joking. How can you say Manchester United is manager less? You are a joke. And no matter Spurs has never a league for almost 3 decades.

    • You should try English. We mostly speak it and read it. Crying shame you can’t write it coherently

    • A well constructed statement :
You must be joking. How can you say Manchester United IS (are) MANAGER LESS (managerless) ? (!) You are a joke AND (and) no matter Spurs HAS NEVER A LEAGUE (lost me there ) almost 3(three)decades.

Still you spelt the word joke correctly. Then again most of us can spell our own name!

    • Ha! Ha! Must admit I don’t really get why a Manure (sorry, slip of the keyboard) fan would be going on to a Tottenham forum and getting so mad over a headline! Is there nothing to talk about on Vital Manure?

  • To be fair, Dunn is right. Man United do have a manager.

The article title should have instead read “United, currently led by an unproven novice manager, are up next” ;-).

Indeed, Spurs haven’t won a title in 3 decades. But since United’s last title, we have finished above them more times than not, and this year is not going to be any different. Spending all that money to finish 6th…

  • DW….think you have upset somebody there, took the bait like a hungry fish, typical pot hunting fan lol! COYS

  • Danny as ever thanks for the continued match threads. Dunn ( or perhaps dumb) you shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a device that requires both typing and spelling. If by some miraculous turn of events you’ve managed to piece together the replies so far back to you, I shall add another for your perusal…….. “ eff off back where you crawled from”!

Love to all Spurs fans and here’s to showing United exactly why they want but can’t have Poch.

  • Nice to grind one out yesterday vs the russian owned Skum, but to me the PL matches are the more important. Even without the odious José the evil one, ManU must fall to us.

  • Another tough game, and with their renewed confidence and attacking football, but they haven’t been tested yet, lets hope we got that Chelsea performance out of us, and we back to where we were before the Wolves game. I’m hoping Rose will be ok for this game, and even Vertoghen even tho Im a Sanchez fan.

  • Thanks for the thread, Danny. I think ‘friend Dunn’ is probably a United supporter. That would explain everything.

  • I’m very tempted to go for a similarly positive result to Pompey, but on reflection I think “managerless” Manure will be totally un-Dunn by Spurs’ superiority, so I’m going for a 10-0 annihilation.

Son has to play the 90 for me as it’s his last game before going away, so I would allow Moura more rest if he needs it, as we’ll need him fit and firing after Son’s gone!

    The scorers:
    Son (4)
    Kane (2)
    Dele (1)
    Eriksen (2)
    Lamela (1)

  • I don’t care if we lose as long as we score more goals than they do. I love sentences that don’t make sense!

  • Surely not Arky, 1 og is unlucky, 2 is careless. I don’t see us not scoring, and we don’t know how to draw!

  • It is going to be a very tough game. The dismissal of Mourinho has lifted the “defensive responsibility “ from certain players and positions so we are going to see a very open game. They are not really known for pressing so I expect us to be able to bring the ball out of the back much more easily than against Chelsea. We have to be able to control Mata and Pogba. I would like to see Aurier in this game to keep Young in his half of the field and Rose on the left to add that wide attacking threat. I expect we will have a Winks and Sissoko in the middle and our usual 4 up front. I suspect we can beat them but we will have to be very aware defensively. We can’t be tired for this game. Must come out full of energy and play the full 90.
