I suppose this will be a case of Luis who? But as far as the fans and players are concerned, it should be a case of who cares, as long as he can do the job.

As yet we have had no news of a No2 for AVB, but this appointment of a fellow Portuguese coach might not be the most exciting news of the day, but what is important is that he and Villas-Boas share the same philosophy of football, which seems to be the case. Martins has spent much of his time coaching the academy age of 16 and above players, spending six years with Sporting Lisbon, before moving to SC Braga in 2008 as the Head of Youth Development.

48 year old Martins moved to Saudi Arabia in 2011, where he worked with the national team and also assisted in the countries preparations for this summers Olympics, but if I am honest, I have never heard of him, but in reality that doesn’t matter a jot, as long as he has the capabilities, to make our better individually and also able to work as a cohesive unit. I assume he speaks very good English like the rest of the new managerial recruits, but I am sure we will find out much more of the new man in the next few hours and days…
