Every year there are breakout stars in the Premier League and across Europe. It looks like Tottenham may have one of them on their books, though, in the form of young Japhet Tanganga.

The 20-year-old centre-back has shone for the Lilywhites in pre-season, playing a part in all of the club’s four games so far this summer, and he capped it off by showing his bottle against Bayern Munich as he stepped up to take a penalty in the Audi Cup final shoot-out.

Tanganga isn’t the only one who’s impressed in pre-season. Harvey White, Jack Roles, George Marsh and Troy Parrott have all won plaudits for their performances, but Tanganga could have won himself a spot in the senior squad for his displays, and he certainly wouldn’t look out of place in the cup squad at Spurs.

The Lilywhites love the look of their young defender and will be desperate to see Tanganga star in the first-team when the season starts after his barnstorming pre-season.
