Loanee Roundup

|

Before I commence, this is not a thread people, but merely an update on our loanees’ exploits for those with a wandering eye. The thread for the Marseille match will be put up later tonight, so keep your eyes peeled!

Indeed, it was a generally successful weekend for our loanees saw three of our loanees score for their given sides, with a solitary defeat across seven games.

Firstly, Destiny Udogie netted his second goal of the season for Udinese in the Friulians’ comprehensive 4-0 dismissal of Jose Mourinho’s Roma in Serie A last night. The Italian press was waxing lyrical over Udogie, with Tutto Mercato Web endowing him with a 7.5 rating out of 10. The same outlet also stated that he ‘dominated’ the left flank, and further remarked that his first name, ‘Destiny’, may also reflect his hopes of turning out for Italy’s senior national team.

Meanwhile, Dane Scarlett, already on his way to becoming a firm fan favourite down at the South Coast, has got hearts racing amongst the Pompey faithful and coaching staff. The 18-year-old netted two goals in Pompey’s 1-2 victory over Peterborough as his side came from 1-0 down to secure their win of the season, and take his goal tally so far to 4 for the season in all competitions.

Pompey boss Danny Cowley had this to say about the young striker to his club’s media team:

“He’s ruthless and I’ve seen him score those headed goals before, so I’ve been moaning about when they were going to come for us!”

“He is so sharp with his movement and so brave. He’ll flash across the front and put his head where other people don’t want to.”

Troy Parrott’s Preston lost their first match of the season, conceding their first goal in 8 games in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City. The young Irishman came closest to scoring for his side, but is still yet to net for the men from Lancashire in the Championship, having netted his sole goal for the Northern Lilywhites in the League Cup last month.

Joe Rodon played the full 90 minutes for Rennes in their 1-1 draw at Troyes in Ligue 1, as did Alfie Whiteman for Dagenfors, whose side battled late on to a 2-2 at Hacken in the Swedish first division.

Finally, Tanguy N’dombele barely saw a minute of action as a 92nd-minute sub in Napoli’s 2-1 victory at Lazio on Saturday, whilst Giovani Lo Celso opened his account for Villarreal in their 4-0 victory over Elche yesterday evening, with Villarreal’s official site describing how his “powerful left-footed shot nearly took the net off” in their Sunday evening rout.

Rest of season at Pompey, then next season a loan to a Championship side, hopefully Pompey again, steps to the Prem. COYS
