Links re-surface for £15 million rated full-back

According to Italian publication TuttoSport (via Sport Witness), Spurs are set to re-ignite there interest in Torino right-back Wilfried Singo.

The report states that the Italian outfit are currently trying to tie Singo down to a new contract – with his current deal set to expire in 2024. Torino reportedly hope they can secure a new deal for there talented right-back to fend off any interest from potential suitors, with Spurs said to one of ‘many admirers’ in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old is no stranger to links with the Lilywhites with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano telling CBS Sports back in February (via HITC), that Spurs had sent scouts out to watch the player.

Singo, who is rated at £15 million (according to Calcio Mercato), would be a bargain option for Spurs and potentially fix there problems at wing-back, with both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty struggling this season.

However, any move for the Ivory Coast international will likely have to be in the summer with Torino not willing to sell the full-back in the forthcoming January transfer window.

But, if Conte and Paratici were able to somehow manoeuvre a move in January, could Singo make an instant impact in North London?

The stats (provided from FB Ref) suggest that Singo may not be the best going forward but if you take into account that Torino are notoriously defensive side, it may tell us that in a more attacking side he may flourish.

There is some stats that show Singo’s potential as a free flowing wing-back, as he ranks in the top 13% of full-backs for dribbles (1.28) completed per 90. As well as, ranking in the top 11% for shots per 90 (1.28), showing when he does get in the final third he is not afraid to express himself, unlike Emerson who often freezes when he enters the attacking end of the pitch.

Another plus for any potential move is that Singo also provides some defensive solidity, ranking in the top 4% of full-backs when it comes to how many times he is dribbled past in a game (0.29), aswell as ranking in the top 5% (1.86) for aerials won.
