After signing Lucas in January, it`s unlikely that we will be interested in another Brazilian winger in the summer, but that hasn`t stopped Bordeaux star Malcom speaking out once again about a possible transfer.

We were reportedly among a number of clubs watching the 21 year old, along with Arsenal, while Bayern Munich have publicly stated they are watching the pacey winger. In an interview with French publication Sud-Ouest (via Sport Witness), the midfielder was asked about the speculation:

‘On Instagram, people put me in Arsenal, Tottenham or Bayern shirts. Even if it`s my dream, it makes me laugh. I play for Bordeaux. At the moment, that`s all I think about.’

His record in France this season has been very good with eight goals and seven assists to his name from 29 appearances. It would however be a big surprise if we did re-enter the race for the player considering our abundance of options in wide areas.

With an experienced international like Lucas failing to even get off the bench against Bournemouth at the weekend, it demonstrates the real strength we have at the moment.

Personally, I can`t see us making sizeable bid for another player in the same position anytime soon, even if the player in question is very promising. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

  • Not one of our current needs, it seems, but if he’s good enough… I never saw the lad, so it’s all hear-say to me. I want another striker to replace Llorente. Another goal keep to replace Worm. Another back for needed depth (we lost both Verts and Toby for long stretches and I was always a wee bit nervy with Dier in the back). Another creative midfielder to provide rest and change of pace for CE, who’s going to burn out if played too damned much.

  • Hard to say – we did get Moura and have Son and Lamela but he can play on either wing and is a top talent, only 21. Perhaps we bought already the best in Moura and the finished article.

  • Seems to be another one we don’t actually need and doesn’t represent an improvement on what we have. Buying players isn’t an end in itself, they have to actually improve the team.

  • I would like one more attacking midfielder, Im still holding out for Martial, but if not I wouldnt mind this guy to be part of our squad
