Serge Aurier was sent off in the 31st minute of Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Southampton and was heavily criticised by supporters on social media. The 26-year-old picked up two yellow cards in just four minutes. He was initially booked in the 27th minute for a foul on Sofiane Boufal and was given a second yellow for pulling back Ryan Bertrand.

Why does he have to be such a liability ffs.

Shock. Not. Anyone who wanted him in this team as a long term is a fool. Always makes dumb decisions, ridiculous scissor challenge and now ridiculous positioning and decision making

Aurier far too rash thats why he will never be a top rb

Serge Aurier is such a double-edged sword. Can be an incredible attacking talent but so daft defensively.

Now I remember why Poch doesn’t play him

Aurier returned to the starting lineup after being rested in Tottenham’s EFL Cup defeat to Colchester United, but now he faces a ban that could keep him out of action until after the international break. Spurs’ next league outing is against Brighton & Hove Albion (October 5) before they have a 14-day break, so the Ivorian international won’t be seen in the top-flight for three weeks.
He was made available for sale over the summer, but a lack of interest led to Tottenham keeping him. Aurier has gone on to make three appearances this season and had impressed before his red card over the weekend. Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth will now compete for a place at right-back in the Champions League against Bayern Munich (October 1).
