Serge Aurier was one of many Tottenham players criticised by supporters on social media after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield United.
The 26-year-old has been inconsistent this season but remains Spurs’ first-choice right-back under Mauricio Pochettino. He’s put in some good performances but has also put in a lot of bad ones. Saturday was one of the latter…

Dier, Davies, Eriksen, Aurier all need to leave! Jan needs to play better quick or he'll be joining them!! Foyth needs to be our RB until we get a proper one in January, Ndombele and Lo Celso need to play every game, Winks is great, Sissoko is consistent! That is all #COYS #THFC

Aurier Sanchez Dier Davies. Not a top half defence, let alone top 6 #THFC #coys

That was quite painful to watch. At least a point was gained but it could've been different the way #SUFC started that 2nd half. Dier was poor, Aurier and Davies looked off (again), Kane not 100%. We go again #COYS #THFC 👊🏼

Against United, Aurier played for 85 minutes, made 73 touches, won one aerial duel, created two chances, had two shots, made three clearances, completed 92% of his 50 passes, made one interception, whipped in four crosses and made three tackles.
Despite not overly impressing, the Ivorian international could keep his place after the international break. Juan Foyth has hardly featured in the league while Kyle Walker-Peters can’t even make the matchday squad. So Pochettino is likely to persist with an inconsistent right-back.
Should Mauricio Pochettino drop Serge Aurier?
Yes
No
Aurier has made nine appearances in all competitions this season, making two assists. The 26-year-old has been on the winning side just three times, conceded 15 goals and kept only two clean sheets for his troubles. His performances contrast almost every game, but there doesn’t appear to be a player ready to oust him from the starting eleven.
