Why can I now picture Daniel Levy with Tony Blackburn and Diddy David Hamilton?..

So it looks like we have decided that Mauricio Pochettino is the man to take the club forward. Perhaps not the choice of everyone, but for me, it’s a selection that has many merits.

Sure he hasn’t won anything. Sure his win percentage isn’t outstanding, but it compares well with Rodgers and Martinez, who now look very good managers when given the chance to work with better players. Also, has anyone yet said anything but positives about him?

What he does appear to be able to do is make teams and individual players perform better, whilst making them work hard, but also play good football. Add to that a clear willingness to bring through young players and you can see what initially attracted Daniel Levy to him.

You assume he will want to bring in his own staff, which begs the question, as to what the future holds for Freund in particular. Will he remain as the No2 or move on? You feel that Ramsey has a decision over dropping back to development or joining Tim Sherwood at his next job and the same probably applied to Les Ferdinand.

I’m sure we will see Pochettino now take interviews in English, which is believed not to be a problem as he supposedly communicates very well with everyone at Southampton, but with Spurs, putting over his ideas and having the players once again embrace them, will be the key, regardless of anything else…
