‘Levy will push him out the door’ – Supporters React As Spurs Defender Responds To Exit Claims

Toby Alderweireld has not ruled out staying at the club beyond the summer despite the defender being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

The 29-year-old has a year left on his contract, with the club having the option to extend for a further year. When asked about staying with us, our no.4 said:

“Yeah, why not? I have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what is going to happen.”

Verdict:

It’s not the most convincing statement is it? There is no talk of contract discussions being revived with the Belgian international, and with the player available for £25m next year, a departure is still more likely than not.

Toby is probably hedging his bets just in case a move doesn’t materialise this summer. The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this week that we are demanding £70m from United for the centre-back.

The asking price is said to be £20m higher than the Manchester club are willing to pay, leading them to assess other targets.
