Levy steps up chase for “immense” £20.2m-valued Tottenham target – Report

|

According to a report from the Telegraph, Spurs are stepping up their chase for reported target Willian along with bitter rivals Arsenal – with chairman Daniel Levy aiming to poach free agents due to the current global pandemic.

Willian, who has started 21 league games for Chelsea this season, scoring five goals and assisting five others in the process, is currently seen as a viable target by Levy due to his status as a potential future free agent.

Currently valued at around £22.2 million by Transfermarkt, the Brazilian could be out-of-contract by the end of June – rendering his price tag obsolete and opening the door for Spurs to negotiate a free transfer.

Should Spurs sign Willian and only focus on free agents?

Yes

No

The 31-year-old, once described as ‘immense’ by Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, would represent a potential bargain given the current climate – and Levy intends to take advantage given our financial situation due to recent events.

Indeed, football clubs throughout the globe have missed out on crucial revenue thanks to the sport’s untimely suspension, potentially impacting their ability to invest heavily in transfers.

Taking that into account, as per the Telegraph, Levy has stepped up his chase for Willian who could be viewed as a proven Premier League attacker.

The 70-cap international has bagged 59 goals and an equal numbers of assists since moving to Stamford Bridge from Shakhtar Donetsk back in the summer of 2013 for £30 million.

Spurs, as it stands, could land the winger for nothing if Willian doesn’t put pen to paper on a new Chelsea contract – and it may be smart business despite our fanbase’s reservations.
