It’s long been expected that Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente would be moving on at the end of the 2018/19 campaign and the 34-year-old will be hoping to do so seeing us lift the Champions League Trophy next month.
With plenty of speculation swirling around, at one point it seemed that maybe we would sign him up to another 12 month deal, just to ensure we actually brought in some money for him with a return to Spain featuring highly on the rumour mill, but that now seems unlikely and the Daily Mail are now one of a few outlets to say that we have now missed a deadline to extend his contract automatically by 12 months, and he will now leave for free when the deal naturally expires.
Unless I’m just having one of those moments, I don’t remember a 12 month option as all the earlier speculation was the offering a new 12 month deal full stop to ensure a fee, but either way, the departure isn’t a surprise.
With a largely mixed spell as he played backup to Harry Kane though, plenty appreciate his efforts.
Will always remember the goal at city and the hold up play for the 3rd goal at Ajax, forever a hero in my eyes

Got a lot of stick in his time with us and we do need a better option to back hi Kane, but he has played a huge part in us making the final no coincidence all of Lucas goals came after Lorente was brought on , and not forgetting the obvious against city

Feel bad for him, he stepped in so many times and did so well. I thought maybe we could just keep him as a spare for emergencies and he’s happy to do this. Has said he’d love to finish his career with us. Let’s wait and see.
