Late Southampton Fight Back Stuns Spurs – Match Stats

|

It was a strange return to St Mary’s Stadium for Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino earlier today as we faced off against Southampton in our latest Premier League clash.

Following the Arsenal draw and the victory over Borussia Dortmund, the Football Association gave him a two game ban for confronting a clearly blameless Mike Dean, so he was in the stands for this one.

Spurs completely dominated the opening 45 minutes and we got our reward 26 minutes in as Harry Kane hit his 200th career goal to give us the advantage, but we were unable to build on it. The hosts stepped up in the second half and found a leveller with 15 remaining in the game to tie the scores up. With Spurs potentially surviving a red card offence for Kyle Walker-Peters, Southampton quickly made it 2-1 to turn the game on its head.

Spurs were made to pay for a failure to take their chances in the opening half as despite their strong end to the game, we couldn’t find that second goal and we fall to another defeat.
