Tottenham Hotspur made the short trip across London to visit Craven Cottage for tonight’s Premier League clash with Fulham.
With the loss of Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and the ongoing miss of Lucas Moura, having already lost Son Heung-Min once again to international duty, most expected manager Mauricio Pochettino to give the start to Fernando Llorente with youngster Kazaiah Sterling maybe taking a place on the bench after he was promoted up earlier in the week.
That was what happened.
Llorente did have an impact, but not the one he would’ve liked as he put through his own net 17 minutes into the tie. Despite dominating possession, in terms of chances we only slightly edged Fulham, so we clearly weren’t at our best across the 90.
However, Dele Alli saved some blushes in the 51st minute to bag our leveller on the day and our possession and determination saw Harry Winks bag a winner three minutes into stoppage-time to take the victory and all three points.
Free flowing and a classic maybe not, but Poch’s side show, once again, that we can dig in and nick games when it counts.
