Keane To Leave In January?

This seems like the never ending story, but Spurs striker Robbie Keane is again being linked with a move away from Spurs.

This time, reports suggest David Moyes – frustrated by the injury run and poor form of James Beattie – is now interested in Robbie.

The Republic of Ireland ace has struggled to come to terms with life on the bench, although he has repeatedly said he wants to stay at Tottenham.

Martin Jol has spoken of how difficult it is to keep all the strikers happy and fit them into the team:

‘It’s impossible to play all three of them. But Robbie Keane is not a member of the squad or a number 12. He deserves to be in the team, but I cant play all of them together. They are all too good to be on the bench.’

Reports suggest Everton will make a £2million bid in January. I’d suggest they up that to at least double, and then he would still be cheap! The problem Spurs face is the fact Keane is out of contract in the summer and could move for nothing on a Bosman transfer. It also means in January he would be able to talk to other interested clubs and lets face it, if he was available for free, there will be a host of interested clubs. Aston Villa manager David O’Leary is another who is continually linked.

With reports suggesting Jol will attempt to make the Mido loan signing a permanent one, it may be that Robbie will have to move on to get regular first team football, although Everton would surely have to climb the league pretty quickly if they hope to tempt him to Merseyside?
