Kane is no longer Spurs’ talisman after rise of new ‘best player’ following fan study – Opinion

|

The debate of which player is the most important at a certain club can be one that is as simple as black and white or something that supporters can debate about for hours on end, and Tottenham seemingly falls into the latter category.

Although the club’s fortunes have been poor this season with Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sitting in 14th in the Premier League table, there is no denying that Spurs’ squad is made up of some genuine world-class players from Harry Kane to Christian Eriksen to Tanguy Ndombele, yet according to supporters, none of these names are considered the club’s most important figure.

Football London recently ran a study for Tottenham fans to take part in to determine which players out of the entire first-team squad would they like to see remain at the club for the immediate future and who should be moved on when January rolls around, and it was Heung-min Son who claimed the highest number of votes as to who should remain in north London.

Is Son Tottenham's most important player now?

Yes

No

The South Korean international beat out the likes of Kane, who came in second, as well as some other interesting names as to who fans wanted to see remain at the club, and the results seemingly showed that Spurs are a side in transition this season.

With Tony Cascarino dubbing Son as Tottenham’s ‘best player’ as written in The Times, it seems like the former Bayer Leverkusen frontman has taken on the role of the club’s new talisman after years of Kane holding the torch for his consistent goal-scoring ability.

As well as being a regular on the scoresheet this season with stats from Transfermarkt showing that Son has already managed eight goals this campaign and a true fan favourite for not just Tottenham supporters but followers of football as a whole, it is easy to see why the 27-year-old is valued as an irreplaceable figure for Spurs, and a player that is now seemingly the talisman for the north London side.
