Jose Mourinho sacked as Tottenham manager

|

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has been sacked by the club, less than 12 hours after it was announced that they would be joining the European Super League.

Former player Ryan Mason will take charge until June alongside Chris Powell, and they will be in the dugout this weekend as Spurs take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final.

If you thought these last 12 hours couldn’t get more crazy, you would be wrong as they just have, although it is believed that the European Super League drama has not been a factor in the decision.

It’s more than likely though that the team’s recent bad form and Mourinho’s negative comments in the media before and after games played a very significant part and many fans have been calling for it for a while now.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager replaced Mauricio Pochettino after the start of last season, but after losing 23 times in 86 games including ten in the league this season which is just two more than 16th placed Brighton, Mourinho has been let go by the club.

Reportedly, Daniel Levy was very unhappy with Mourinho’s handling of the media when speaking about the players and he knew that if fans came back to the stadium, they would be even more unhappy if the manager was still in charge.

The decision was made on Friday after the disappointing 2-2 draw with Everton, but it has been a long time coming after Arsenal beat us 2-1 and then Dinamo Zagreb knocked us out of the Europa League after winning 3-0 in Croatia after we took a 2-0 lead into the second leg.

However, with the Carabao Cup Final looming, it seems a ridiculous time to sack him, and 29-year-old inexperienced former Spurs and Hull midfielder Mason will be the man in charge next weekend and could become a cult hero straight away.

In our opinion, the sacking is nothing more than a mere smokescreen to cloud the news of the European Super League and give Spurs fans something else to direct their opinions on, but most of us knew that this was inevitable and it hasn’t done too great of a job to cloud the shocking news.
