Jose Mourinho reveals Tottenham’s failed plot to sign Napoli defender

|

Former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has recently revealed that he tried to sign South Korean international Kim Min-Jae back in 2020, while he was in charge of the Lilywhites.

The Roma boss stated that the deal was close to being completed, so close in fact, Mourinho actually had a number of facetime calls with the 26-year-old.

However, in typical Spurs fashion, they couldn’t get the move over the line with their offer being short of Fenerbahçe’s €10m valuation.

Since Tottenham’s failed pursuit of Min-Jae, the South Korean has gone on to join Napoli, joining the Italian giant’s last summer.

Safe to say Spurs will be regretting their decision to not sign Min-Jae as he has been absolutely outstanding since arriving in Naples, becoming a vital part of a Napoli side that has raced to the top of Serie A this season.

Defensively strong and fantastic on the ball it seems Spurs have missed a trick when it comes to Min-Jae as the South Korean could have slotted perfectly into Tottenham’s backline – a backline that has leaked 31 goals league goals this season, more than sides such as Everton and West Ham.
