It’s Spurs, It’s Summer – That Means It’s Time For Silly Season

|

Well, it turned into quite a fantastic season for Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur with the club battling back from some major disappointments to semi-comfortably seize fourth place and a Champions League spot, taking north London bragging rights over Arsenal who finished two points below us.

With the 2021/22 campaign now at a close, it is a big summer for Conte as he looks to continue reshaping his first team squad into a far more drilled and consistent outfit for the coming 2022/23 campaign, and the quick and early signing of experienced 33-year-old, Ivan Perisic, it certainly looks like Daniel Levy is going to back him and managing director Fabio Paratici in our search for further success.

With plenty of tasty links circulating in the media, it will be interesting to see who comes in next as there are a few key positions we still need to strengthen in, but if Perisic is anything to go by, it could well be an interesting couple of months ahead for fans.

German striker Jurgen Klinsmann spent two years at White Hart Lane in separate spells, but how many league goals did he contribute?

HT better than all the repeated negativity and vitriol..

  • Hot Tottingham says:

I’m with you on the negativity 108, but I don’t see the vitriol you mention.

    • wentworth says:

I think we should keep Rodon and Ben Davies playing great for Wales and sign Eriksen and Bale on frees for the bench to come on and win games for us.
We could do a lot worse than the pathetic
Lo Celso and N’Dombele. ( One with one leg the other with no legs).

  • Niall D says:

    Hi HT
I won’t exactly leave these pages, but there is an element of having to justify every comment at times. There have been a few occasions where I’ve nearly said ahh fek it I’ll give up, and it was, actually putting me in a foul mood, this is not aimed at you my friend.
Plus the forum is that bit simpler to use, where I can like your comments without having to into a long winded explanation.
I don’t see any of us leaving these pages as, TQ, PY, B 108, and indeed myself are still posting, it’s just another avenue, seemingly without such a critical eye

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Hear hear to what Niall has said. The forum is excellent, less vitriol, less sniping and many more comments. These pages are good as well – you just get more for your buck on the forum.

  • Geofspurs says:

As it’s about football, surely there are conflicting opinions and some arguments in both places? I have looked at the forum but found it too difficult to engage in.

Woeful game from England last night. btw.

    • TQ2Spurs says:

That’s a shame Geof, don’t quite understand why you found it difficult to engage? Your input would be most welcome over there, a number of they guys who used to post on this side have said they miss interacting with you!

  • block 108 spurs says:

WW A good call for bale and eriksen as squad players / match winners. Depends on conte and levy’s agreeing the substantial wages for these 2 players sitting on the bench.

HT i am still here.. just not going to post as much as before.

  • Niall D says:

    I’m with you there Block
If we do well in cup comps and, Europe there is room for these player to get enough minutes
But on their day they are game changers, it all depends on whether :
    Conte rates them
They are prepared to warm a bench on occasions
    The wages, are agreeable.
    Still posting. ✌️😉

  • Geofspurs says:

TQ …. Thanks for the comment. I didn’t mean that I found it hard to engage with people, just hard to navigate the format of the site and so I gave up. That’s down to my short-comings as I can very easily become frustrated with computers and modern technology in general.

    • PompeyYid says:

Morning Geoff thats a ditto from me regards “short comings and frustration with comps n modern tech”

What about that England shite! first win by Hungary v us in 60 years.
Southgate in my mind is a knob and an FA arse licker.

Wales, they give their all, got lucky and are through to the WC, 64 years since their last appearance, but must say very hard luck Ukraine, you played well.

But to end off its COYS.

  • Geofspurs says:

Hi PY …. Ukraine certainly deserved to win but, as you know, football does not always work that way.

B108 & ND …. I agree that Bale and Eriksen would be handy squad members. I wonder how interested they’d be?

    • PompeyYid says:

Word on the street is Eriksen is staying a Brentford.

As for Bale, as you probably I have no idea!

A strong rumour is that Bastoni is joining us, all will be revealed after the Internationals, hope so would be a great signing. COYS

  • Niall D says:

    Hi Geof
It’s also whether they are the right fit in Contes eyes
Do they want to come into a team that has to be as hard working in defence as in attack.
Would they want to be “bit part players” and by that I mean perhaps only getting 60 mins, or coming on after 60 min, as it appears midfield is Conte mostly makes his changes.
Or will they be happy enough as a bigger fish playing every week as star in a smaller club, S’oton ot Everton. Does Bale still love club football? Has Ericksen a fear (health wise) and is happy playing within himself at that level?
But I do think both still have at least 2 good seasons in them still, and could do a sterling job for us.
But it is, ifs and maybes.

  • Geofspurs says:

ND …. I was thinking the same thing …. two years on the bench would (hopefully) suit everyone …. depending on the answers to the questions you posed.

  • Niall D says:

    100% Geoff. 👍😉

  • 123spurs says:

Just saw the price of the new home jersy 90€.

    • PompeyYid says:

Hey 123, that’s £75 I think for a basic “home” shirt, but £115 for a “special” whatever the fcuk that means lol! all getting rather costly eh!
Imagine if my 5 kids were still kids and as I used to, buy 6 shirts every season, jesus the cost now.

Not a bad looking shirt in my opinion though, COYS

      • 123spurs says:

That could be for socks and shorts not sure, I haven’t bought one now for a few years, so have to hint to the wife as father’s day coming up. We also had a new arrival so be nice to mark it. Looks nice but I might go with the away Jersey.

        • PompeyYid says:

Got them prices from our Shop, shorts, socks all extra.

So you have another Yid to raise, congratulations to you and Mrs123, its going to get costly now, lol!

  • wentworth says:

2 good signings now. Perisic and Forster…cost nothing so we still have 150 million from ENIC and the sale of Lo Celso, N’Dombele, Winks etc to add to the coffers. I like Saint-Maximin from Newcastle but it might be difficult to tempt him away. Would still give Eriksen another go.
Transfers should start hotting up soon.
At least we started early ( Levy must be away somewhere). Now we need to get rid of the unwanted and let Conte deceide what he really wants and needs.

  • 123spurs says:

Thought it was the full kit, exactly my weekly beers will increase, Lol. 2 more yids. Coys

  • PompeyYid says:

Morning all, I see the Bastoni deal is now off…again! his agent reckons he isn’t leaving Inter.

So what or who now? rumour mill to go into overdrive lol!

We have dosh to spend, lets look forward to an exciting STW, and try and work out the drivel spouted by the page filling media. COYS

  • PompeyYid says:

Haha here is the latest on Sesame, the Bastoni deal could still be on!

Well we will just have to wait n see, like holding our shirt up. COYS

  • 123spurs says:

Just a thought, now days we rarely see any two footed players, weather its full backs or wingers, why aren’t they trained at young age when they join the club to do so. Can be very versatile for cover positions.

    • wentworth says:

123 Son, Kane, Eriksen are two footed. I thought Lo Celso was a disgrace with his right swinger..painful to watch. Both my grandsons are training their other foot to match. It is possible. But it takes practice, practice, practice
Professional players should be fined if they can’t equal their shooting feet. Just look at Son’s sentational goals from outside the box with both feet.

  • 123spurs says:

I would def loan rondon out to get some game time.

  • Niall D says:

Sorry 123 I would just sell, he’s 24ish and hasn’t made the step up.
He either doesn’t fit or isn’t the quality, time to move on…

    • 123spurs says:

Niall agree but my point is that if he was staying I’d rather him go on loan to get game time rather sitting on the bench with nothing. But as you said doesn’t look like he will make and should be a few club in for him.
