It’ll Soon Be Time For Spurs To Turn Their Eyes To Inter

|

As I type this Tottenham Hotspur’s start to the Premier League campaign of 2018/19 sees us sit in fifth place in the top-flight table with nine points returned from our opening four games.

Three victories and then a disappointing defeat to Watford was the blemish on an otherwise fine start to the year and with Wembley issues and a lack of transfer action over the summer window, the games themselves had been a welcome distraction and a largely strong start to the year under Mauricio Pochettino should be welcomed.

With the September international break providing some cheers for players, it is all eyes to this weekend’s game against Liverpool but next Tuesday we have the Champions League opener against Inter Milan to contend with.

Games against Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven will quickly follow in Group B action and with Barcelona as opposition, few will go into these games underestimating how tough a task it will be, but there’s optimism in the fan base that we can look to the knockout stages if we make the most of our other clashes.

Watford did see the bubble burst for some, but it was a bad day all around. There are those who believe a repeat would’ve seen us take a point with the chances we did create and yes, those are the sorts of games we need to grind out a point from when clearly not at our best.

How much our Manchester United’s efforts cost us is open for debate, but we should be able to welcome back Son Heung-min for Inter and he’ll certainly be a boost at the top of the pitch following his own adventure recently and the spirits he should be in.

Inter aren’t the side of old, and whilst they should be respected they shouldn’t be feared, the biggest question for me is do we turn up. The game is in our hands, we have to take it.
