“Isn’t Going Anywhere This Summer” – Agent Shuts Down Spurs Transfer Links

|

With the topic of a possible return for former Tottenham Hotspur player Gareth Bale becoming a thing in the media after baseless suggestions he could originally be used as a makeweight in any possible Real Madrid move for Christian Eriksen, his agent Jonathan Barnett has come out fighting this week.

In an interview quoted by Sky Sports, it’s no secret that Bale has come under fire at the Santiago Bernabeu with a section of the fanbase hugely against the 29-year-old owing to media reports claiming he has a ‘disgraceful attitude’ and doesn’t socialise with his teammates amongst many other claims.

Barnett has rubbished those reports, obviously defending his client in the process but one line he offered should end talk of a return to White Hart Lane, even though a number of fans seem to be warming to the idea now.

“The people writing these things know nothing about him. There has not been one single discussion about Gareth leaving Madrid. He isn’t going anywhere this summer. Despite what’s been reported, he’s content, he wants to stay at Real and they want him.”

That won’t, of course, shut the speculation on the rumour mill down, and outlets will simply suggest things could change come the summer if they even bother referencing his words, but with a number of fans questioning his wage packet as putting a block on the deal, those don’t necessarily sound like the words of a man looking to take a pay cut to ease a move through to me.
