Christian Eriksen had another uninspired game for Tottenham on Saturday and found himself being singled out by supporters on social media. The 27-year-old has been inconsistent through the campaign and didn’t have much of an impact as Spurs suffered a 3-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Eriksen has played in every Premier League (8), Champions League (2) and EFL Cup (1) game this season but only has one goal and one assist to his name. The Danish international is another Tottenham player who wanted out over the summer, so his poor form may be connected to his failed move away.
Against Brighton, Eriksen played a full 90 minutes, made 74 touches, won two aerial duels, had three shots with one hitting the target, made one interception, completed 78% of his 59 passes, whipped in four crosses and made three tackles. He failed to create a chance or make a successful dribble, however, which bore him the brunt of criticism on Twitter.
The highly committed Lucas Moura shouldn't be on the bench while the ineffective, unmotivated, risk avoiding Eriksen is on the field for 90 minutes. This one is on you #PochIn.#THFC #COYS

Drop Eriksen completely. Don’t even have him in the squad for Watford. Start Winks & Moura. Get Sess and Le Celso on when match fit. Inject some new young players in and get rid of those that can’t be arsed to be there. Oh and give Poch your full backing!! #PochIn #THFC #COYS

Why does Lucas hardly feature?
Why does Eriksen start after everything that’s gone on?
Sanchez is the future, why isn’t he playing?
I thought Dier played well. Was little rusty but was good to see him breaking up play.#COYS #THFC

One positive, Lo celso & Sess should be available for selection after the international break, then we can drop Eriksen #COYS #THFC

One of the best CB pairing in Toby & Jan has come to its end. Dier,Lamela,Davies, have never reached the same levels of the quality around them. Rose & Eriksen on the same boat, both looking to sail onto the next one, just let them go. KWP not good enough. #THFC

Eriksen is out of contract next summer and isn’t doing a good job putting himself in the shop window – Tottenham need compensating in January if they can’t convince the 27-year-old to stay. If he loses his place in the starting eleven, however, he’s likely to get less viable suitors willing to pay to sign him early.
