‘Immense’, ‘So good’ – some fans laud Tottenham defender after Huddersfield win

|

Kyle Walker-Peters shone as Tottenham thrashed Huddersfield Town 4-0 on Saturday. The right-back celebrated his 22nd birthday with a fantastic performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and was lauded by some supporters on social media.

Against the Terriers, Walker-Peters made 62 touches, 49 passes with 92% accuracy, four chances, three crosses with 100% accuracy, one successful dribble and drew two fouls. He’s been short of playing time this season but has often impressed when called upon by Mauricio Pochettino.

The England u21 international has made only nine appearances in all competitions (five in the Premier League, one in the Champions League, two in the FA Cup, one in the EFL Cup), racking up a paltry 615 minutes of football. In the Premier League, Walker-Peters has been handed only three starts but has made an impressive three assists for his troubles.

With Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier ahead of him in the pecking order, opportunities have been few and far between. But with Aurier’s future being uncertain at Tottenham, Walker-Peters might be in line for more minutes in 2019/20. He signed a new deal earlier this season so Pochettino clearly has plans for the defender.
