Tottenham have had some huge moments over the years, but they’ve also had a few strange ones. Undoubtedly, one of the weirdest moments in recent memory for the Lilywhites came back in 2014 in a European tie against Asteras Tripolis.

It was business as usual for much of the fixture, with Tottenham winning 5-0 until the dying stages. That was, until Hugo Lloris was sent off, and Harry Kane stepped up to take his place between the sticks in the 89th minute.

Though a courageous move, it turned out very quickly that Kane was a little bit better with his feet than he was with his hands, given that Jeronimo Barrale was able to squeeze a freekick in against him in the dying stages.

The English forward has been harping back to that moment on his Instagram page this week, noting that he’s ‘come a long way’ since that day.

He’s most certainly right, and we’re hoping that his stark rise continues over the coming months and years.

It was typical of Harry’s character to step up to the plate and go between the sticks on the night, and it was just a sign of things to come. Still, we’re hoping he sticks to being a striker for the time being, at least.
