Conte has entered the “top4” chat room
Danny thanks for the thread.
A measured if not dominant performance, a sort of do what we needed to do and no more.
Actually quite an Italian performance, go 2 up and hold on to the lead.
This, wasn’t a classic, but there are noticeable improvements.
The game was actually a step forward for Conte, a bit closer to what he wants from the team. The main thing is we were trying to make something happen throughout the game. It wasn’t coming off most of the time but previously we weren’t even trying. There were some encouraging performances. Ben Davies was excellent, he seems to fit perfectly into the system Conte wants. Reguilon looks like he has a real future as a wing back, as shown for the second goal he has more opportunity to use his pace in that position than as a full back. The Hojbjerg/Skipp combination is developing nicely. Hojbjerg has already shown he can do more than just defend, there was one brilliant bit of football from Skipp last night from which Kane could and should have scored. But Harry is right out of form. Think of Rice and Soucek at West Ham, able to defend yet still set up attacks. I think we are seeing something similar at Spurs. Which begs the question, given how Conte wants to set up if we had this creative midfield player everyone talks about where would he play ?
Probably in midfield, jod. (lol)
Jod. Our attacking midfielder would play in midfield. We have no one. Skipp and. Hojberjg are defensive and not attacking passers. We once had Hoddle, Modric, Eriksen etc.
Last night’s game was an improvement but pretty boring. Skipp was impressive and Sonny did his bit.Little else to get excited about.
We should overwhelm Norwich.
So looking forward to transfer window. Will we be able to get rid of some (lots) of the mediocre ones and sign some excitement. Hmmm???
For me Skippy was mom! how many forward passes did he make, a number.
Now there are loads saying an AM is required! ok! that’s an opinion, for me if we did have an AM added then 1 of the front 3 has to go….so we go from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2, simple!
Hoddle 101 goals, Eriksen 51 goals, Lo Celso 1 goal, Skipp 0 goals for Spurs. I think a goal scoring midfielder who can take free kicks would be a great asset. The top teams seem to have one or two.
Oh dear. Conte wants full control over ALL transfers in and out. This could be interesting.
wentworth – You can’t play 12 players. So who would you drop and what formation would you play to accommodate this AM ? Of course Conte won’t change his formation at all so this is a purely theoretical exercise.
Moura to the bench and bring on when opposition is tired. WE are desperate for a decent passes and scorer from free kicks and distance. We are severely lacking in goals.
