Over the weekend Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that 19-year-old talent Samuel Shashoua had headed out of the club for his first loan spell, but instead of the usual destination further down the English pyramid, he had actually travelled abroad to Atletico Baleares.
Samuel Shashoua has joined Atlético Baleares on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.
Good luck, @Sam_shash. pic.twitter.com/5uYjHmp7V3

The deal is a standard loan until the end of the 2018/19 season so presumably, we have a January break clause in our favour, but it’s a novel move if nothing else as he heads for the Spanish Segunda Division B side.
The Academy graduate is a midfielder who scored six times across 27 matches for our Under 19 and Under 23 sides last campaign and he found the net in the UEFA Youth League tie against Borussia Dortmund, and the EFL Trophy tie against AFC Wimbledon – so he has technically made his debut even if it wasn’t at first-team level.
I know nothing about his new club or the quality of their level, but the Spanish experience should be an eye opener for him and hopefully, the spell will be of benefit as he continues to make his way in the game.
Reacting to the news on social media, it seems those with a greater knowledge of the youth setup are pleased.
Its a good option. I hope he will fit on @atleticbalears

A very good thing for British players to go on loan abroad rather than being stuck either in the U23s or in League 2
