‘Heartbeat of this side’, ‘Baller’ – some fans laud Tottenham man after Southampton win

Christian Eriksen was praised by supporters on social media after Tottenham enjoyed a 3-1 win over Southampton. The Danish international created Harry Kane’s opening goal against the Saints, which was his fourth assist in his last three appearances, leading to him to being called the ‘heartbeat’ of the Tottenham side and a ‘baller’.

Eriksen has contributed five goals in just over two weeks and has nine goals/assists for the season. Against Southampton, he created three chances, boasted a 100% accuracy ratio from his two shots, made over 50 passes in the game and completed three of his four crosses attempted.

Mauricio Pochettino hooked him off after 79 minutes with the game all but finished and will have been delighted with his contribution. Eriksen’s performance will have fans all the more desperate for him to sign a new deal, with no progress being made on an extension just yet.

Nevertheless, Tottenham have a lot to cheer about. Their win on Wednesday saw them go ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League table. Spurs now sit third with 33 points from 15 games this season, boasting four wins from their last five.
