Tottenham Hotspur sent out two tweets wishing Davinson Sanchez many happy returns on Wednesday as he celebrated his 23rd birthday, which gave fans a chance to share their positive opinions regarding him.

The Colombia international defender is currently our record buy at the present moment, having cost a cool £42million (Guardian), although that is unlikely to be the case for too much longer with how the summer window could turn out and the way transfer prices have inflated to astronomical amounts.

And, he has been a classy individual ever since joining us from Ajax.

Although he may not play in every single game, Sanchez continues to leave a solid impression on us regarding his performances and looks to get better with each display.

In the 41 matches he played across all competitions for us last season, the South American managed to average 1.5 tackles and 1.4 interceptions, whilst also committing just 0.9 fouls on average per game (WhoScored) – rather encouraging stats for a young defender!

If he can continue to produce those figures, if not improve on them even further as the years go by, then that £42m we spent on him in 2017 will have looked even more like a bargain than it already does.

As mentioned, a number of fans took to Twitter on Wednesday to share their birthday wishes with Sanchez and also took the opportunity to provide him with their positive reactions regarding him and his future. One supporter stated that he ‘would be at the heart of our defence for many years to come’ whilst another believed he was ‘so underrated’.

Here are just some of their reactions…

  • I love this guy and think he will have his chance this season to finally get a big run of games. With an aging often injured verthongen and toby looking for a possible move along with champions league football he will get his shot and I believe will reward poch for the opportunity.
