Have Your Say: Spurs Have Hit An Individual & Collective All-Time Low

I personally think that most people are not getting or understanding the difficulties these Tottenham Hotspur players are facing. They are human and they had a huge disappointment losing the Champions League final. It’s like most humans when you work so hard for so long and then fail, or have a huge loss in life, it’s hard to get over. Imagine you work so hard to buy a house and you get it then something happens and you lose it. Or you work so hard to pass a final exam and you fail. These knocks can be devastating and it can make you feel so low.

This squad has been through a lot and fought so many things, but got to their destination – a CL final – but lost it and I seriously think it is the deep-rooted problem and they are struggling to get over it. I think it was obvious how it affected Eriksen, he came out quite soon and said he needed a different challenge. That’s a sign of needing a different environment to help him get over his pain. It’s so hard to lift yourself when you feel the rug has been pulled from under you.

Then you add ageing players, players wanting to leave and injuries to new signings. It’s like when everything seems to be going wrong, is going wrong and you fall into a rut of disappointment, pain and basically fed up and some into depression.

It takes time to overcome these periods in life, after the CL loss I think they were left shell shocked and so low and adding all the other things mentioned they have hit rock bottom. They are not bad people, or bad players, they have hit an individual and collective all-time low.

I think the media, pundits and fans are not helping. MP is trying to change the mentality throughout the club and one of the final steps is that of the fans. The atmosphere isn’t always great, the support isnt, the fans just can’t see what is happening because the fans are made up of society and like the society we live in, a greedy, unsympathetic and kick them when they are down attitude prevails. There is no patience, it’s I want it now. The fans need to have some empathy, compassion and look at themselves and get perspective. Why are they really having a go at the players, manager, board – because they lack integrity, compassion and put the boot in.

It’s football, it’s not the end of the world and it’s not that important. These players are humans and have hit an all-time low and everyone is on their back. Anyone here never hit an all-time low?

It doesn’t matter how the club is run or who wants to go or what flaws these players and manager has, it’s a bloody game with ordinary people playing it with the same life problems we all have and it’s normal for them, like us, to hit a difficult time.

It will change and yes we may miss out on CL and we may not win anything, so what, it’s life. What about all the suffering in life, isn’t that more important. Life has yin and yang, good periods and bad and I do believe the way we treat it shows what kind of person we are, supportive or kick a person why they are down. I know which I want to be.

They are not running as much, not playing well, but how can they when they are feeling low. Try being at your best when your in that situation. It’s like running with weights in your boots. It’s a difficult place to be and I think people are making more of it than is needed.

I trust things will change and I don’t believe for one minute any players are playing up or deliberately causing trouble. I think those wanting to leave would have found it hard to focus in pre-season, especially if they were feeling low, and this caused a delay in preparation. The way they feel now would have been there in pre-season as well and it has been exacerbated with players not getting their moves.

Lets stay positive, supportive and just relax and see it for what it is, a bad patch from the huge disappointment of losing CL and the collective malaise that brings.
