“Have You Ever Seen Anything Like It” – Pundit Hails Spurs Saviour Amidst Southampton “Chaos”

|

With plenty of questions being raised in the last week and a bit about the spirit, togetherness and unity of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur side, some of those questions were given an answer as we dug deep and battled to all three points against Southampton on Saturday.

Having taken the lead through Tanguy Ndombele, we then saw Serge Aurier dismissed for two bookable offences and the visitors to White Hart Lane did find themselves a leveller. Shortly before the half time break though, England striker Harry Kane helped himself to his sixth goal in eight games to ultimately secure the win for us.

The game had plenty of other talking points and BBC pundit, and former player, Garth Crooks understandably allowed himself to be sidetracked when naming Kane in his Team of the Week feature following the action at the weekend.

“Spurs would have lost this game if it were not for the calmness of Kane. For large parts of the win against Southampton, Tottenham’s performance descended into chaos. Serge Aurier’s game fell apart during 10 minutes of madness, followed by Hugo Lloris’s peculiar rendition of the Cruyff turn on his own goalline. Really, have you ever seen anything like it? What Southampton made of all this I can only imagine. The sad thing for the Saints is that they could not take advantage of it. Thank goodness Spurs have Kane – one of the few players they can rely on in a crisis.”

Onto Bayern Munich and hopefully a far better week than the last one was.
