Despite the three points, the main takeaway from the game was the fact that Harry Kane became Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer. His goal on the 15 minute mark was his 267th goal for the Lilywhites, eclipsing Jimmy Greaves’ record of 266.

Greaves’ record had stood for over 50 years, but it had seemed only a matter of time before Kane broke his record, with the striker breaking the age-old record in his 301st appearance for the club.

The England skipper’s goal also means he he has now joined the 200 club, scoring his 200th Premier League goal – the quickest player to ever do so. Kane joins Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer as the only ever players to score 200+ goals in the Premier League.

Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer congratulated Kane on his goal scoring achievement via Twitter.

After the final whistle Kane was congratulated by his team mates as well as the Spurs faithful, who stayed after the game to show their appreciation of the 29-year-old striker.
