“Happiest Guy In The World” – Cheers, Son’s Smiling As He Goes Into Tottenham’s History Books

|

With Wednesday evening’s spectacular opening ceremony as Tottenham Hotspur took to the new White Hart Lane pitch for the first time as we welcomed Crystal Palace to our new ground, it was set up to be an incredible night for a host of reasons.

It was, and you don’t have to look far in the news media or on social media from the evening to see all the praise, compliments and outright gushing about our home that will take us into the distant future.

With goals on the evening coming from Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen, Sonny obviously takes the first entry in our history for the first goal scored, and our South Korean international couldn’t have been more delighted with the honour as he spoke to the BBC following the fulltime whistle.

“It’s just amazing. The noise was just so loud. To score the first goal at this stadium. I just want to say to thank you to my team-mates and the fans. I’m the happiest guy in the world. White Hart Lane is our history but the new stadium…I can’t believe it. To play in it is an amazing feeling. It’s a bit different from Wembley. Wembley was not our home.”
