‘Had no idea what a fabulous player he would become’ – Reaction to striker’s Champions League scoring record

Spurs captain Harry Kane scored twice last night in the 4-2 win over Olympiakos to reach 20 Champions League goals in record time.

His first goal came after 50 minutes, scuffing in a Lucas Moura’s cross to level the scores. He was then on the scoresheet again as he headed in Christian Eriksen’s free-kick late in the second half.

Kane reached the landmark in just 24 matches in the competition and surpassed Alessandro del Piero’s record of reaching 20 goals in 26 matches.

The Spurs and England talisman now has 23 goals in 23 games for club and country this season and fans have been delighted with how the Tottenham academy graduate is performing.

Other fans were unimpressed by Kane’s achievement last night and seemed to have an issue with the way he reached the record.

Harry Kane’s rise at Spurs has been phenomenal and his Champion’s League record is just another top-class achievement from one of the world’s most in-form strikers. At the age of 26, Kane still has plenty of time to continue breaking records.
