Vincent Jansson’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur this summer has pretty much been a matter of when, not if, as despite coming back into the fore at the end of the season for manager Mauricio Pochettino, that was more down to our situation at the point rather than any real second chance for the Dutchman.
A number of fans had hoped he would impress and finally get himself going given how highly rated he was when he joined from AZ Alkmaar back in the summer of 2016 for a reported £17million, but some deals just don’t work out and unfortunately, this has been one of them.
There were reasonable reports linking him with a return to Turkey, even if the swap suggestions for Eljif Elmas always felt wide of the mark but over the weekend Football London were reporting that a deal was now imminent with Liga MX side Monterrey, and it was expected that he’d undergo a medical early next week.
Given the 25-year-old continues to have his supporters in the fanbase who feel he’s never had a proper chance to impress, the reaction to the suggestion of a move to the Mexican leagues was pretty strong.
Probably because top 6 team in the Premier League is one of the highest possible standards you can play at, and there are hundreds of thousands of players around the world playing at marginally lower standards. Including the Eredivisie, where Janssen previously thrived. ????

Wish him all the best to be fair, there’s a goal scorer in there somewhere. Needs the right service and a lot of love. A good finisher is always a good finisher.

He was never given a fair chance at spurs. Wasn't played enough and then the injury bug bit him. He's a good footballer. Many clubs would be lucky to have him. I wish him all the best.

All the best @vincentjanssen I’d have loved to see you push for a good run in the side. There’s a quality striker in there, somewhere.

A bit of a strange move for him to play out of Europe this early in his career. I'm surprised nobody in the Eredivisie wanted him.
