“Genuine Back-Up” “Best Youngster In The World” – These Spurs Fans Lavish Praise On Impressive Young Prospect

Tottenham Hotspur fans have long had high hopes for youngster Troy Parrott and the 17-year-old youth Republic of Ireland striker has done himself absolutely no harm so far during our 2019/20 pre-season buildup – and he excelled in last night’s Audi Cup semi-final clash with Real Madrid.

A solitary goal from Harry Kane was enough to give us the win and book our place in the Final against Bayern Munich, but Parrott was so close to adding a second following his introduction as Kane’s replacement in the final 45 minutes. He proved too quick for Sergio Ramos, but sadly saw his effort rattle the woodwork – plenty of other players had the opportunity to extend our advantage as well – so there will be few fans who don’t take the positives from that one in my mind.

Taking to social media to react to his performance, many felt he had now proven that he more than had what it took to play backup to Kane this season, and for them, it meant that a second forward should not be our priority in what remains of the transfer window.

Whether manager Mauricio Pochettino sees it that way, or wants to get him out on loan, still remains to be seen but youngsters have to seize their chance, and Parrott is doing just that.
