‘Future star’, ‘Will be a great gem’ – These Tottenham fans were impressed by prodigy

|

Against Juventus yesterday, Tottenham will be remembered for the fabulous winner that Harry Kane struck in injury time, but there has also been praise for the young players that Mauricio Pochettino trusted to star. One of those was Troy Parrott, and the 17-year-old was sublime.

Parrott only featured in the first half before being subbed off for Harry Kane, but the Irishman certainly left his mark on the clash. He played his part in the Lilywhites’ opening goal, playing a one-two with Heung-Min Son before firing a shot at Gianluigi Buffon that Erik Lamela scored on the rebound.

Had he been given the full 90 minutes it would have been hard to bet against Parrott finding the net himself, but his link-up play with Son was something to behold and he certainly didn’t look fazed by the stature of his opposition as he went toe-to-toe with the likes of Buffon and Leonardo Bonucci.

The fans will be keen to see more of Parrott during this pre-seasn tour, and will hope he can be relied upon when the competitive season begins next month. For now, though, you can read what they had to say about him here…

The Lilywhites will be desperate to see more of Parrott throughout this summer and next season and will hope the Irish striker can build on his promising first senior outing.
