Former Arsenal fan favourite wanted by Tottenham

|

Ever since *that* transfer from Spurs to Arsenal back in 2001, Spurs have actually attracted more former Arsenal players to the white side of North London than the other way around.

William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor both enjoyed successful spells at White Hart Lane after previously playing for the Gunners, and more recently Under 23’s defender Tobi Omole switched allegiances to Spurs.

Jonathan Dinzeyi left Hotspur Way to sign on at Arsenal as Omole joined last summer, but the Spurs academy staff will be confident that they got the better player in the ranks right now.

And the strange transfer activity involving former Gunners could continue at the end of the season, with former Arsenal fan favourite Aaron Ramsey being targeted by Jose Mourinho.

Ramsay, who has previously said with his chest that he would never join Spurs, has been linked with a move for around a year now on and off, but Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web are adamant that we are a serious candidate in the race for the Welshman’s signature.

The price tag is reportedly just €18 million, which has alerted other clubs like Everton and Liverpool, as well as his former team who would be more than happy to reunite with him as they are in search for midfield stability.

With the likes of Joe Rodon, Ben Davies, Gareth Bale and former Spurs player Chris Gunter all team leaders in the Wales dressing room, 30-year-old Ramsay will find it difficult to escape Spurs chatter while on international break should his heart still be with Arsenal.

Luckily for Arsenal fans, the Juventus midfielder currently is out injured with thigh problems – so there will be no persuasion from the Spurs boys end just yet.

The experienced former Cardiff City man has haunted Spurs in the past, scoring in a few North London Derbies as well as turning in top class performances.

He knows how to win too, having won the FA Cup three times and the Serie A once for Juve, where he has scored five goals in 42 league appearances so far.

At Arsenal, Ramsay scored an impressive 64 goals in 369 games in all competitions despite being plagued with injury problems throughout his career.

It is believed that Mourinho wants a player like him to add competitive experience to the side to turn Spurs into title-challengers and trophy winners, and while it would be difficult to admit it, Ramsey would do just that.
