Less of an article here, and more of a question for you all…?

Anyone confident enough on the rules of the Premier League as to whether or not we can hand out debuts, away to Hull City?

I can see why Leicester City, away tomorrow night then perhaps we SHOULDN’T be allowed, do you? Their league position is still up for grabs, and with money in the game being what it is, 1 or 2 league places can really affect a team.

But with Hull, they’re relegated in 18th, that can’t change – and we’re 2nd, that can’t change either therefore, are we allowed to give some of our prospects for the coming years a PL debut?

Lopez, Carter-Vickers, Walker-Peters, Edwards…these lads would all benefit massively from a Premier League debut – but do we land ourselves in trouble if we give them an opportunity?

  • Strongest teams for both matches, unquestionably. We’ve sold our allocation of tickets for Leicester and no doubt will do so for Hull. The fans deserve to see the strongest teams available. We want to finish the season on a high anyway. Also agree with Dele-Arri – there is plenty of time pre-season to experiment.

  • I’d like to see N’koudou & Jannsen play a full game for once.If they can’t cut it then we need to go out & buy Zaha & Llorente or similar players. Next season we need a bigger squad with real quality on the bench otherwise our first team will be exhausted by Xmas trying to play a pressing game on the huge Wembley pitch.

  • Not to concerned tbh, but would like to see a few youngster get a run out. After a long season a few deserve an extra few weeks hols.

  • If walker is going I would give Kyle Walker Peters 30 mins if we are winning. That is it. Our priority is to get our highest EPL points total ever.

  • Lots of you pointing out that we have pre-season to experiment – we do – but games aren’t competitive… We always seem to experiment pre-season, and we always wind up starting seasons slowly. I’m not saying hand out 5/6 debuts in both games – but surely Walker-Peters needs a prem game if we’re selling Kyle? Carter-Vickers hasn’t played a prem game, and Wimmer is almost certainly off. Edwards?? How good is he? I like our young squad, but i’d hate for them to have to make debuts in a big game next year because of injury… making your debut is a mental challenge as much as anything else – I’d hope that fans who have bought tickets to either game would be smart enough to understand the reasons for playing one or two youngsters, if that is what we choose to do….. and I hope it is.

  • I’d start N’Koudou and give significant playing time to Sissoko (if we are still counting on him) and Janssen (same). For the rest, I suppose playing Eriksen and Alli in support of Kane’s quest for the golden boot makes sense.

  • My 3-4-3 would be Lloris; CCV, Toby, Jan; Walker, Dembele, Wanyama, Davies; Alli, Kane, Eriksen. Alternatively, my 4-2-3-1 would be Lloris; Walker, Toby, Jan, Davies; Wanyama, Dembele; N’Koudou, Alli, Eriksen; Kane.

In one system CCV gets the chance, in the other N’koudou gets his chance. In both systems Dier, Trippier and Son make way for Dembele, Walker and one of those 2. The only reason I wouldn’t pick Walker is if it is already a done deal that’s he’s gone. I very much doubt that and Trippier was poor at the weekend.

I do think that Poch should switch the bench around though. We have 2 games in 4 days so seeing someone like Edwards on there shouldn’t be a shock.

  • Tottenham are without Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker for tomorrow’s trip to Leicester.

Mauricio Pochettino says he may change formation for the game.

“We have different options, maybe we will change the formation. It is good for us to be creative. We want to win our last two games, that is important.

We can not change the table but we want to finish well. To finish second was a good thing now we need to finish the last two games with a good feeling.”

  • Not averse to bringing on a couple of kids in the last 35-45 mins of a season. Especially is game practically won. But I’d rather get the points.

  • The PL season finishes for us on the final whistle at Hull, until then we should be going all out for 2 more wins and 6 more points. There is plenty of time to play meaningless games, picking scratch teams, together with cavorting half way around the world simply to make a few quid during the close season. We can use these games to “blood” new young players, who may or not be good enough. One thing we need to ensure with both the PL and CL to compete in, is that we are fully ready and prepared for the new season, particularly for our home games at Wembley, where our recent record to date is less than impressive. Hopefully we can move on one or two disappointments, and loanees that we don’t really want back, get a few quid in, and make at least a couple of decent signings to strengthen the team/squad for the new campaign.

  • Frank – if Alli twists his knee tomorrow or Sunday, and he misses next year because of it, it might change your mind about rotation for the last 2 games though…

  • Belgian I take your point, but Ali might just as easily twist his knee, or suffer a serious injury, while involved in a pointless nonsense of a “match” in Hong Kong or points beyond, during the close season, but that won’t stop the powers that be picking him and the rest of our stars, to enhance the gate and make money.

  • Frank – fair point. I only just realised that the HK tour is next week. Post season tours, when legs are tired, are criminal. I thought the players had a month’s rest or so.

  • DA – Edwards is a promising youngster but he has proven nothing yet and I don’t think one can really compare the impact of losing one of our best players with the impact of losing a player who has yet to start in the PL. As dramatic as it would be for Marcus, the reality is that it wouldn’t affect our season very much next year.
